Chris Brown Readies Aaliyah Collabo, Nabs Performance Spot & Nomination At 2013 BET Awards

As Chris Brown was on hand at the ICON Ultra Lounge in L.A. today to help announce the 2013 BET Awards nominees, he dropped a little nugget of his own that his frenemy Drake may not love. Check out what Breezy said about his new sing featuring Aaliyah, and what to expect at the upcoming Awards…
Chris Brown, along with Kendrick Lamar, Tamar Braxton and Charlie Wilson, announced the BET Awards nominees today at a press conference. To kick off the brand new three-day BET EXPERIENCE AT L.A. LIVE, the celebs were on hand to help BET Networks officially announce this year’s nominees, honorees, performers and special guests for the BET AWARDS.
Comedian Chris Tucker will host while R.Kelly and the "Fine China" singer have already been announced to perform. And it all goes down LIVE at the Nokia Theater on June 30th.
But it was Chris’ big Aaliyah announcement that has everybody buzzing. He’s putting out a collabo, using her vocals, for an upcoming track on his new X album. And we all know Drake’s obsession with Aaliyah, and his own "Enough Said" collabo using her voice. So we wonder how he’ll respond about his enemy making music using Aaliyah’s likeness.
Chris said this afternoon:
“I got something special for my fans. It’s called ‘They Don’t Know. All new stuff that’s never been heard before.”
And he already shot the video saying:
“I shot it in the hood. I went to the Cedar Block. Bringing both worlds together and trying to uplift the poverty side of the community and show them where I’m from. I’m from Virginia, but everybody comes from a broken home or being broke. I remember when I was.”
The above pics were taken and posted on his Twitter timeline on Mother’s Day Sunday. And they were all taken from a mystery shoot (likely this video) involving elementary school kids and dudes from the hood.
In other news, Drake is leading the pack with 12 BET Award nods, Kendrick Lamar & 2 Chainz grabbed 8 each, A$AP Rocky is saying thanks for his 4, and Miguel grabbed 4. Chris’ on again/off again lover Rihanna, as well as Justin Timberlake and Kanye West, all copped 3.

MTV Reality Star Breaks Sex Tape Record
For years, Ray J. and Kim Kardashian’s sex tape has been the numero uno choice for horn dogs who want to see quasi-famous people gettin’ it in. But the ex-couple was knocked from the top spot this week by “Teen Mom” Farrah Abraham. According to TMZ, Abraham’s pornographic debut was so popular that it crashed Vivid’s site. Her 70-minute flick (called “Backdoor Teen Mom”) brought in more than 2 million viewers in only twelve hours. Vivid claims they had to access secondary servers to keep the site up. |
Tyler, The Creator’s Manager Responds To Racist Mountain Dew Spot

Odd Future’s longtime manager Christian Clancy has responded to the controversy surrounding OFWGKTA’s frontman Tyler, the Creator and his Mountain Dew commercial that many perceived to be racist. Clancy’s main argument is that Tyler’s “delivery may not be for everyone.”
Last week emotions ran rampant when Mountain Dew aired a commercial online with a voice over from Tyler, depicted as Felicia the Goat. In the commercial “Felicia” stands within an all-black (various ancillary members of Odd Future) prison lineup as a battered elderly woman is shaken up by the goat’s mind control as she is told to pick an assailant. The investigator even attempts to coax her by suggesting it is the one with the “du-rag.” Naturally people weren’t pleased, and the commercial was pulled from the internet.
“His voice is nonetheless important to the conversation since his demographic understands what he ultimately stands for,” Clancy expressed in a message posted on his Tumblr page.
Clancy added that Tyler’s intent wasn’t to offend anyone, and that this commercial is rather an extension of an entire storyline that featured Tyler’s Felicia The Goat character. While Tyler’s manager emphasized both his and Tyler’s sincerity in not intending to come across as racist, he ended by stating that he will stick by Tyler:
“Again we apologize if this was taken out of context and would never trivialize racism,” he says, “especially now in America where voting and civil rights are being challenged at the highest level. I can however stand firmly by someone I have believed in since we met only because I know him and i know all of this was never his intent.”
Yesterday, Tyler, the Creator tweeted, “I Would Love To Have A Convo With @drboycewatkins1.”
Dr. Boyce Watkins was vocal about his displeasure with the Mountain Dew commercial, which ultimately helped lead to the spot being pulled and the brand issued an apology yesterday. “Hey guys – made a big mistake we’ve removed the offensive video from all our channels. #fail,” read the message on Mountain Dew’s official Twitter page.

50 Cent Stars In 2013 NFL Draft Spot [VIDEO]

With each new venture, 50 Cent‘s “Straight To the Bank” gets that much more validity. That’s word to his spot on this years Forbes‘ Wealthiest Hip-Hop Artists list. His latest deal is in conjuncture with the NFL, who used his Street King Immortal track “We Up” sans Kendrick Lamar for a 2013 NFL Draft commercial.
The chorus get reworked a bit to fit the Draft theme. “New York, we always make it hot/Like we in the league and we made it to the top,” chants the Queens rapper on this version.
The NFL Draft will be televise on ESPN from Radio City Music Hall in New York from April 25 to 27. The first hour of round one wil air Thursday, April 25 (8 pm ET), and will be presented with limited commercial interruption. The three day event will also be available on WatchESPN this time.

Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, the 2012 third round pick who led Seattle to a NFC Divisional Playoff game as a rookie, will appear in and voice ESPN’s NFL Draft opening tease. The open will also feature multiplatinum recording artist 50 Cent and English rock band The Heavy performing the group’s hit “How You Like Me Now.” The music of both 50 Cent and The Heavy will also be paired with photos and video of more than 115 prospects — taken during the NFL Scouting Combine in March – throughout ESPN’s draft telecast.

Brooklyn’s going hard at the box office this weekend. YBF stars Chadwick Boseman (Jackie Robinson) & Nicole Beharie (Rachel Robinson) have landed the 42 film at #1 at the box office with mill cumulative.
Deadline reports that a Warner Bros. exec told them:
“While we do not poll race breakdown, I can tell you we performed extremely well in all the large urban markets. But the highest grossing theaters were the country’s most commercial screens.”
Well, looks like people were ready to see a positive and inspiring story with a black man in the lead role afterall. Itt’s been argued, though, that the film focuses more on Branch Rickey (played by Harrison Ford), the MLB exec credited with breaking the color barriers in the league with him signing Jackie Robinson to the then Brooklyn Dodgers.
Meanwhile, Scary Movie 5 flopped at #2 far behind with .6 mill. It was in over 300 more theaters than 42. Bow Wow, Mike Tyson, Lindsay Lohan, and Charlie Sheen all starred. But clearly it wasn’t enough. By the way, YBF chick Regina Hall, who starred in the first 4 installments, didn’t appear in this one. Neither did the usual lead Anna Faris.
BONUS: After seeing Chadwick Boseman on "The View" this past Friday, we’ve got a new crush. The BK cutie, who was born in Charlotte, is well spoken, majorly sexy and determined to make a serious splash in this industry. Not mad at all. Check out his interview with the ladies below:

Does A$AP Rocky Deserve The #1 Hottest MC Spot?

Kanye West made it clear that he’s pissed off about being #7 on MTV News’ annual “Hottest MCs” list, but A$AP Rocky took it a step further, stating that he’d rather just not be on the list at all, if he can’t be #1. Quite the bold statement. Some fans agreed that he should’ve been higher on the list, but they weren’t convinced about his #1 proclamation. See the reactions below.
