Lil Scrappy Says He’s Addicted to Marijuana, Enters Rehab
May 23rd

By Sowmya Krishnamurthy
The first step to recovery is admitting that you have a problem. After failing a Georgia court-ordered drug test today, Lil Scrappy is revealing that he’s addicted to marijuana. TMZ reports that Scrappy’s urine test came back positive for the psychoactive drug. Scrappy’s lawyer, Mawuli Mel Davis, told TMZ that the “Love & Hop Hop” star will check into a rehab facility before his next court hearing in June after acknowledging that he’s indeed an addict.
This isn’t Scrap’s first problem with weed. Last month, Scrappy was in hot water with the court after failing to take a drug test and turning in what appeared to be a bad sample (or someone else’s) per TMZ.
Scrappy is also battling personal issues at home. This week on Love & Hip Hop Atlanta, Scrappy and girlfriend Erica continued to fight after she accused him of infidelity. After finding questionable texts on his phone, Erica worried that Scrappy was regressing and cheating on her once again. She removed her engagement ring and said that she wanted to slow down their walk to the aisle. “Once you go looking for something, you’re gonna find it,” Scrappy affirmed, to which she responded,“I think we need a break.”

J. Cole Says He “Worked Too Hard” To Drop His Album A Week After Kanye West’s
May 21st
Is J. Cole moving the release dateof his new album, Born Sinner, up a week to drop the same day as Kanye West’s latest project, Yeezus, foolhardy or a smart play? No matter your opinion, the Roc Nation rapper is confident he made the right decision.
Cole said competing with Yeezy for the hard earned cash of fans on Tuesday, January 18 was a matter of not becoming an afterthough a week later. “”I’m not going to sit [here]… I worked too hard to come a week later after Kanye West drops an amazing album,” Cole told Billboard‘s The Juice blog. “It’d be like, ‘Oh and J.Cole dropped too, a week later.’ Nah. I’m going to go see him on that date. He’s the greatest. So it’s like, I’m a competitor by nature so it was instant, it wasn’t even a thought.”
But, don’t think the “Power Trip” rapper is snoozing on Mr. West’s talents. He said, ”At the same time, let’s not forget this is Kanye West. He bets 100, 1,000, whatever the perfect is. His track record is flawless. I’m only expecting an incredible album from him. But I know what I have.”"
Will you be copping both Kanye West and J. Cole’s albums on June 18 or just one or the other? Let us know in the comments.

Kanye West Wanted To Cash In With Cash Money, Says Mannie Fresh
May 21st
By Maurice Bobb
Kanye West doesn’t forget where he came from, or, in the case of former Cash Money Records super-producer Mannie Fresh, where he could have come from. It’s common knowledge that Fresh worked with Yeezy on G.O.O.D. Music’s compilation album, Cruel Summer, and that the former Big Tymer signed a song deal with ‘Ye’s label for an undisclosed amount, but in a recent interview with Vlad TV, a lesser known fact about West’s humble beginnings came to light: the “Black Skinhead” MC once borrowed production equipment from Fresh and asked Cash Money Records for a deal.
“I’ve been knowing him actually before he even had a deal,” Fresh told Vlad TV. “He actually came to Cash Money looking for a deal, and I been knowing him since then, When Kanye and Mikkey first came as a group, he didn’t have no equipment so I lent him my equipment. This was my first introduction to him, and the only thing I can say is it was a blessing, because he came back and looked back. Without knowing him, I just felt like he was a good dude and lent him some equipment or whatever to do what he had to do and he never forgot about it.”
Hindsight being 20/20, it’s safe to assume that Cash Money wishes it hadn’t passed on the 21-time Grammy Award winner in favor of Mikkey Halsted, but it would be equally impossible to envision Kanye without his Roc-A-Fella roots or his days throwing the diamond in the sky or, more notably, his many collaborations with Jay-Z, up to and including their seminal joint LP, Watch the Throne.
With each producer releasing new projects in the immediate future, Kanye with Yeezus (June 18) and Fresh with OMFGOD, Fresh pondered the differences in the way they construct their hits. Kanye employs many different methods, but for Fresh, it’s all about that personal touch.
“That’s just not really my thing, but everybody’s so used to that, so that’s the standard,” Fresh said about the practice of emailing beats. “I’m more of like, ‘Hey, dude, let me get in the studio and let’s see what we come up with.”
RUMOR CONTROL: Jay-Z DENIES Beyonce’s Pregnancy?!! Says “The News Is Worse Than Blogs”
May 20th

Rapper Jay-Z has spoken out (sorta) about rumors of Beyonce’s pregnancy…and he’s denying it. Find out what he allegedly said inside and why we think the pregnancy rumors were started…
For the past few days, the world has been flushed with gossip about pop superstar Beyonce expecting her second child. The news went mainstream when E! News reported the pregnancy as the next best thing to FACT. Though E! news is considered a VERY reliable news outlets by EVERYONE, but according to Jay apparently, the news is NOT a fact.
Over the weekend, Ebro (the famed station manager of NYC’s Hot 97) went on record saying that he received an email from Jay-Z denying the pregnancy. On air, he read Jay-Z’s email saying, "It’s not true. The news is worse than blogs." Of course, this could "potentially" have come from someone else, but because Jay-Z and Ebro have had a close relationship for over a decade…we’ll take Ebro’s word for it.
But here’s the other issue…why would E! News report something which "might" not be true? We have our own suspicions that have been brought to our attention.
You’ll recall that In Touch Weekly printed a potentially embarrassing cover story about Kanye West’s sexuality a few days ago. The tabloid claimed he is in a gay relationship with Riccardo Ticsci…and we passed on posting the story since we’ve heard that rumor for years now with no credible confirmations. But with mainstream tabloids posting it now, this could possibly threaten that Kardashian throne (we all know the concoction of the Kardashians is E!’s biggest cash cow). So, we think it’s odd that the rumor of Bey’s second child came out RIGHT AFTER the In Touch article.
We’ve all seen how Olivia Pope mastered the art of "changing the conversation" on "Scandal". And you’ll notice that we’re not talking about Kanye’s sexuality anymore. We might mention his SNL rant, but his relationship with Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci is old news. Why? Beyonce MIGHT BE PREGNANT!
But jeopardizing your credibility is a serious length to go to just to play Captain Save A Baby Mama.
As far as E! News goes….they have not printed a retraction and their "Beyonce’s Pregnant" story is still on the front page of their website. But the story about Kanye’s sexuality NEVER made the site.
Busta Rhymes Says Rappers Are Afraid

”You Might Get Your A** Whooped On Your Own F**king Record”
In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Busta Rhymes spoke about the significance guest spots have had on the hip hop industry. The superstar rapper shared his opinion as to why such towering figures like Nas, Eminem and Jay-Z don’t feature on as many artists’ work as other stars. “There’s one of two reasons to me why the same people appear on every song: one reason is either they’re just the hottest dudes, and the other reason is…” he said before pausing. “It’s interesting to me that Eminem isn’t on a lot of people’s sh*t. It’s interesting to me that Nas isn’t on a lot of people’s sh*t. It’s interesting to me that Jay-Z isn’t on a lot of people’s sh*t. A lot of the very dangerously lyrical motherf*ckers. I think there’s a fear factor that plays a role, because sometimes you really don’t know if you’re going to be happy with what you asked for – especially if you might get your a** whooped on your own f*cking record!” Busta was also asked when he realized features were becoming more and more important. “A long time ago, especially for the artists that can’t carry a record on their own,” Busta answered. “And since the era of developing artists has died with record companies over 10 years ago, a lot of dudes had to come out here and figure out how to get hot on their own. A lot of the times, the novelty of a name that’s popping in the market is the easiest way. So the feature became more important than the record a long time ago. It’s unfortunate, but I think there’s a change happening: A lot of the new dudes aren’t doing it. They started to realize chasing down a hot motherf*cker was a sh*t-ton of work, cause when a hot motherf*cker think he’s hot, they become divas real quick.” |
Phil Jackson Says Michael Jordan Was Greater Than Kobe Bryant?
May 17th
Over the years, getting legendary NBA head coach Phil Jackson to compare Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant was damn near impossible. But in Jackson’s forthcoming new book, a memoir titled Eleven Rings: The Soul of Success, he does just that. Basically, it seems like the Zen Master gives the edge to Air Jordan.
The Los Angeles Time printed some excerpts of the book where Coach Jackson compares the NBA Hall of Famer and the sure to be first ballot Hall of Famer.
On their skills as team leaders:
“Michael was more charismatic and gregarious than Kobe. He loved hanging out with his teammates and security guards, playing cards, smoking cigars, and joking around,” Jackson said in the book, which was obtained in advance by The Times.
“Kobe is different. He was reserved as a teenager, in part because he was younger than the other players and hadn’t developed strong social skills in college. When Kobe first joined the Lakers, he avoided fraternizing with his teammates. But his inclination to keep to himself shifted as he grew older. Increasingly, Kobe put more energy into getting to know the other players, especially when the team was on the road.”
On their defense:
“No question, Michael was a tougher, more intimidating defender. He could break through virtually any screen and shut down almost any player with his intense, laser-focused style of defense,” said Jackson, who coached Jordan to six championships and Bryant to five.
“Kobe has learned a lot from studying Michael’s tricks, and we often used him as our secret weapon on defense when we needed to turn the direction of a game. In general, Kobe tends to rely more heavily on his flexibility and craftiness, but he takes a lot of gambles on defense and sometimes pays the price.”
On getting buckets:
“Michael was more likely to break through his attackers with power and strength, while Kobe often tries to finesse his way through mass pileups,” Jackson wrote. “Michael was stronger, with bigger shoulders and a sturdier frame. He also had large hands that allowed him to control the ball better and make subtle fakes.
“Jordan was also more naturally inclined to let the game come to him and not overplay his hand, whereas Kobe tends to force the action, especially when the game isn’t going his way. When his shot is off, Kobe will pound away relentlessly until his luck turns. Michael, on the other hand, would shift his attention to defense or passing or setting screens to help the team win the game.”
Eleven Rings: The Soul of Success is in stores Tuesday, May 21.
So, if you had to pick one, who would it be; the Black Mamba or Air Jordan? Let us know in the comments and check out some of our favorite MJ vs. Kobe pics in the gallery.

50 Cent’s Cousin Says Rapper Starts Beefs
May 17th
|
”I Deal With That Sh*t”
50 Cent revealed in a recent interview that he’s not a fan of his cousin Continental Five or the rapper’s music because he feels Continental is emulating 50′s former lifestyle without having actually lived through the same experiences. Continental Five spoke about 50 Cent in an interview with Forbez DVD. âWhatever stories you hear about this n***a, I deal with it on an everyday basis,” Continental explained. “I deal with that sh*t. So, when heâs gone and doing the rap sh*t and heâs starting the beef and heâs igniting all that, Iâm still hereâ¦Iâve been paranoid. I donât be out like that becauseâIâm worried about if a n***a would try to do it. None of the beef that Iâm gripped up for or be running around with is not mines. Iâm not outside starting trouble. This is somebody elseâs problems I inherited.â âSo, to a n***a listening, nobodyâs trying to be a gangster. I want to get the f**k away from this. Iâm trying to do my thing,â said Continental. âSo, when you see me rapping itâs not me rapping about trying to portray something. No n***a, this whatâs gonâ get me to get the fuck out the situation because Iâm still in that situation. So, while youâre in your bulletproof and you good and you somewhere else, the reality is I still gotta deal with the sh*t that comes with your issues.â |

Tamar Braxton DISCUSSES Her BATTLE With VITILIGO, HEALING From Her ABUSIVE PAST, Says She HASN’T Had Plastic Surgery
May 14th

Reality tv star Tamar Braxton sat for a very candid interview with Ebony.com where she discussed issues with her skin, the abusive relationships of her past and addressed rumors of plastic surgery. See the highlights inside….
As she prepares to become a mother for the first time, Tamar Braxton sat down with Ebony.com where she opened up about sensitive issues like her skin disease (vitiligo) her abusive past ("one of her ex-boyfriends had dragged her out of her apartment by her hair"), and plastic surgery rumors. Though we think we’ve seen all there is to see with Tamar Braxton, her interview revealed a vulnerable side that’s never been exposed on camera. Here on the highlights:
On Being Abused:
“I almost had to tell my story to each individual and then I decided that’s not what I’m going to do. I can’t make anybody believe, I can’t change anybody’s mind about anything. (The abuse,) it happened. I’m not all the way comfortable with sharing a lot of what happened to me (yet), but what I said was true. When I’m ready to talk about my abusive past I will, I’m sorry that I’m not. But if it wasn’t for (God), I wouldn’t be here.”She added,
“My husband (Vincent Herbert) definitely doesn’t abuse me,”
On her struggle with Vitiligo:Anybody with skin issues knows that that’s a very sensitive subject. And that’s why I’ve never shared that I have Vitiligo, because I do. I’ve always had it, since I was a young girl. It’s not as bad as others because everybody has it differently, but I’ve certainly had mine diagnosed. That’s why I tan. People say, “You bleach your skin!” But I tan just so I can have a better tone on my skin, boo!
It’s gotten worse since I’ve gotten pregnant. If you shake my hand now, to me it’s more noticeable. But when you get diagnosed with a skin disorder, it’s hard. It does weigh on your self-esteem. It really does.
On Plastic Surgery:
"I don’t have plastic surgery. I never had plastic surgery. I had a nose procedure done because I had to. I had no cartilage in my nose, I have a piece of cartilage from my ear put into my nose. I had a medical procedure done. I have no plastic in my nose. And when I shared that with the world, now I have Botox, and different kind of fillers. Now I touch my face, which I never touch my face…Everything is real on me."
But, she hasn’t written plastic surgery off, just yet:
"After I have my baby, I might can’t say that everything is real on me. I might get my breasts done. Who knows if my breasts gonna go down to my ankles–I can’t do that!”

The Randomness:
