Nike KD V “Aunt Pearl” – 2013 Kay Yow Collection
Feb 19th

Cancer is a disease that knows no boundaries, be it race, sex, age, religion, and etc… While modern medicine has reverse the tide of battle somewhat, this stubborn foe won’t be easily dispatch just yet, making it all the more important to raise funding for research at a constant pace. In honoring his late aunt as he did annually on Valentine’s Day, Kevin Durant along with Nike Basketball created the KD V “Aunt Pearl”. Embossed all-over with the winged icon in tonal white, the distinctive KD 5 features a pink Nike Swoosh with a stained-glass applique. The same design repeats itself along the tongue and sockliner as well.
The KD V “Aunt Pearl” will make its debut tonight along with the rest of 2013 Kay Yow Collection when the UConn Women’s Basketball go against the Baylor Lady Bear Basketball. In the meantime, the 2013 Kay Yow Collection is now available for sale with all proceeds going to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. The KD V “Aunt Pearl” is expected to launch in the weeks ahead.

Tonight, the UConn Women’s Basketball team all sported the Nike KD V “Aunt Pearl” in their game against the Baylor Lady Bears as a part of the Play 4 Kay campaign to benefit Breast Cancer Awareness in the name of the late, great Kay Yow. The sneakers feature a white base and pink accents. The outer Swoosh branding, tongue, and inner lining contains a pink stained glass mosaic. The Kay Yow emblem signifying Nike’s five year partnership with the Kay Yow Foundation, and the lace tips have “Aunt Pearl” printed in honor of Kevin Durant’s late aunt. While the shoes are definitely a great shoe for a great cause, Durant and Nike Basketball encourages us to “continue to fight for a cure” and never forget the ones you loved. Stay tuned to Nice Kicks for release information of the Nike KD V “Aunt Pearl”.

Kicks On Court: Thomas Robinson Sports “Pearl” Foamposite Pros Against Raptors
Jan 5th
Kings rookie Thomas Robinson has made a couple of appearances in our Kicks On Court column this season with sneakers such as the “Flint Grey” Air Jordan 7 and the “Copper” Foams. Today, Robinson gets his first Kicks On Court headline by wearing one of the most popular colorways of the Foamposite Pro on court. Specifically, he laced up the “Pearl” Nike Air Foamposite Pro in last night’s game against the Toronto Raptors. You have to give T-Rob props for bringing out a Foam we rarely see on the hardwood. View these kicks plus more, worn by Chris Paul, Kobe Bryant, Nate Robinson, LeBron James and others, below.

Jay-Z Wraps Made In America Festival With Drake, Pearl Jam
Sep 3rd
Jay-Z wrapped his Made in America Festival on Sunday, giving Philadelphia and the fans who watched via livestream something to remember.
On the opening night of his Made in America Festival, Jay-Z delivered a headlining set that included appearances from Kanye West, G.O.O.D. Music and even a PSA from President Obama, so Sunday night (September 2) found him enjoying the remaining sets. Still, he had to make at least one more brief appearance before the event wrapped, and that happened during Pearl Jam’s closing set.
Before the Seattle grunge rock band took the stage for the final performance of the weekend, Drake had treated fans to a few of his own hits. The YMCMB rapper was dressed in all white, save for the gold OVO symbol on his shirt, possibly getting in his last all-white outfit in before Labor Day. He opened things up with a snippet of his Rick Ross-featured Take Care track “Lord Knows” before delivering some bars on “Underground Kings” and bringing back memories of last summer with his hook on DJ Khaled’s anthem “I’m On One.”

It’s doubtful that Drake could do a set these days without performing “Crew Love,” another crowd favorite, but after getting through a few of his own tracks he summoned 2 Chainz to the stage, with a grand introduction, to take things a little South. The Atlanta rapper was making his second appearance in as many days, after joining Kanye West and G.O.O.D. Music for “Mercy” during Jay-Z’s Saturday night set. And although the crowd was excited to see him on the previous night as well, his entrance had been marred by some mic difficulties after Kanye West skipped his own verse, and maybe that’s what triggered Drake to add, “That’s how you bring out 2 Chainz.”
Saving 2 Chainz the trouble of plugging his own album, Drake made it known that Based on A T.R.U. Story had just dropped and gave a sample of it with “No Lie.” And since 2 Chainz was around anyway, it seemed only right that he’d take some time out for his cult favorite “Spent It.”
Check out all the action from Jay-Z’s Made it in America Festival!
French Montana was up next, hitting the stage for “Pop That” and Rich Forever’s “Stay Schemin’” while hamming it up with Drake. Both French and 2 Chainz recently joined Drake on his Club Paradise tour, as did Meek Mill who, unfortunately, didn’t make it for Drake’s set. The Philly native was on deck to perform with MMG the previous day, but some fans were certainly hoping to see the two rappers team up for a live rendition of his Dreamchasers 2 single “Amen.” Drake was more than energetic throughout his set, practically bouncing around while encouraging fans to give it up for the legendary rockers coming up.
When Pearl Jam took the stage for their set before 9pm it was still raining lightly, as it had been throughout the day, but that didn’t slow down them down. Most of the hip-hop fans had ebbed from the festival site on Benjamin Franklin Parkway after Drake left the stage, but Jay-Z made one final appearance, joining Pearl Jam for a rock heavy rendition of “99 Problems” that went over well.
Over the course of the weekend, Jay-Z seemed to enjoy watching the success of his eclectic lineup of performers which ranged Miike Snow to Jay Electronica, Odd Future to Skrillex and Drake to Pearl Jam. He’d gathered many hometown favorites including Meek Mill, Jill Scott (who was joined by Eve) and Santigold plus some international favorites like his Roc Nation artist Rita Ora. According to festival organizers there’s a good chance of seeing a repeat festival next year, and in the meantime fans will be able to catch the upcoming Made in America documentary, directed by Imagine Entertainment partners Ron Howard and Brian Grazer.

Beyonce & Jay-Z CUDDLE UP At Day 2 Of Made In America Fest! + Jay ROCKS OUT With Pearl Jam
Sep 3rd

After headlining night 1 of his & Budweiser’s Made in America Festival in Philly on Saturday, Jay-Z kicked it around the festival grounds with wife Beyonce on Sunday. Check out The Carters cuddling up in the rainy weather on day 2, plus Jay rocking the stage with Pearl Jam during their set…
Hov & B walked into the Made in America Festival Sunday afternoon just in time to catch Run DMC on the Rocky stage. The twosome were spotted holding hands & entering right in front of the stage.

B rocked her man’s Brooklyn Nets’ team shirt and black leather leggings with knee high stiletto boots. And the cutesy twosome hit up the VIP booth to watch the rest of the acts like Drake & Pearl Jam:

Bey is looking extra happy these days.

Director Ron Howard, who was on the grounds shooting a documentary, snapped pics backstage with the couple.
And they were spotted leaving out with Rita Ora, who also performed Sunday afternoon:

But Jay didn’t go far since he stuck around for headliner Pearl Jam. And he surprised the crowd by hopping on stage to perform "99 Problems" with the legendary band backing him. Check it:
