The wait is over for Mario fans. The R&B singer will return next week with a brand new single featuring Nicki Minaj.
“Somebody Else,” produced by Polow Da Don, is scheduled to hit iTunes on Tuesday, May 21. “I hope this new song breathes new life into R&B and where I’m gonna take it!” said the 26-year-old in a handwritten note.
Mario’s upcoming fifth album will reflect the changes in his life. “Nothing can explain the excitement in my heart at this point & time in my life,” he said. “I have changed so much as a man, artist, & creator, and I realize more and more everyday that it’s not about me. It’s about me doing what GOD wants me to do; change the world with my GIFT.”
His previous album, 2009’s DNA, debuted at No. 9 and spawned the hit single “Break-Up” featuring Gucci Mane and Sean Garrett.
HUNG LOW: Rihanna NEARLY LOSES Her Pants, SUES Topshop For $5 Million For Selling Her Image + Nicki Minaj Names Cyndi Lauper As Her STYLE IDOL
As her team handles a million lawsuit against Topshop, Rihanna was seen struggling with her ultra-revealing pants during a peek-a-boo stroll through New York last night. Get the legal deets inside and watch footage from Nicki Minaj’s TEEN VOGUE spread….
Rihanna was seen heading back to her hotel room in NYC last night.
Wearing a tight pair of black leather trousers with a midriff baring top, Riri was forced to adjust and re-adjust her pants so photographers wouldn’t get a shot of her goodies.
But bare booty views aren’t the only struggles facing the pop starlet. As her "Styled To Rock" show comes over to the States, her legal team is embroiled in a nasty Million lawsuit with Topshop. It seems the company is making a ton of money selling t-shirts with her image on them…without her permission.
A source close to the situation says negotiations between the company and Rihanna started out friendly…but took a dive once they only offered her K. Insulting! Her camp turned down the offer and Topshop ignored the rejection and sold the t-shirts anyway! They essentially told her they would do whatever the hell the please. Now…Riri wants them to pay up. The source told Page Six,
“Rihanna’s management asked Topshop a number of times to stop selling her image and were told, ‘We do what we want.’ They buy the pictures from a photographer, but they do not pay the artist licensing fees. Unfortunately, UK law does not protect the artist. What is most offensive for Rihanna is that they basically told her, ‘Go to hell. We don’t care; we are going to continue selling you.’
But fans of Rihanna shouldn’t expect to get their hands on any of those shirts here in the States. The source added,
"Topshop is now in the United States. They set up in Manhattan and Nordstrom, but they know better than to do this in the US because they would get in trouble.”
For their part, Topshop isn’t admitting any wrongdoing. In fact….they seem to pass the buck off on the supplier (though they did CHOOSE to sell the shirts). A rep said,
“This issue is related to a T-shirt provided to Topshop by a third-party supplier. We are aware it is the subject of litigation. [There are] public documents."
We bet chick gets her money. We’ll let you know how that turns out….
And on magazine stands…..
You’ve already seen her Teen Vogue cover, now they’ve released backstage footage and interview clips from Nicki Minaj’s colorful June/July 2013 cover where she reveals the origins of her thick shell and touch girl attitude. In the clip above, she describes her style as "Euphoric, girly and powerful." Also, the rapstress talks about her "AI" experience, her most memorable audition and her fashion/music idol Cyndi Lauper.

TV FAB: Nicki Minaj Remains MUM About Reportedly Leaving “Idol” + Lance Gross In New Trailer For NBC’s “Crisis”
Nicki Minaj has yet to comment on reports that she’s leaving "American Idol," all on the heels of reports that the entire judges’ panel was fired. Things are looking to be more and more true.
Deets inside, plus Lance Gross’ first trailer for the upcoming NBC show "Crisis"…
A few days ago a report hit the net that all the judges on the Idol" panel were fired. Soon after, Randy Jackson put in his resignation letter saying he was choosing to "leave" in order to focus on his own projects.
Now, Nicki Minaj is rumored to be leaving, despite "Idol" reps denying anyone was fired. Did the network & "Idol" head honchos give the judges the opportunity to leave on their own to save face from getting fired? That’s what it seems like.
Us Weekly reported yesterday that she indeed had decided not to return next season.
"It’s safe to say she isn’t coming back to Idol," an insider tells Us, adding that the "Roman Holiday" rapper will be focusing on her next album, touring, and endorsements. "She’s okay with it. She had a great time but was only going to do one season anyway."
We reached out to Nicki’s rep about the report, and everyone mum. Interestingly, a source in her camp told us the rumor of all judges getting fired and/or leaving was false just a few days ago. Maybe they weren’t aware….
Either way, Nicki hasn’t said anything about the matter yet. So we’re putting our money on the fact that "Idol" wants to do a total makeover of the judges’ panel, and there’s no room for a Barb.
In other news, hottie Lance Gross is about to return to TV. The "House of Payne" actor will be starring in NBC’s new drama called "Crisis."
Lance plays a Secret Service Agent on his first day on the job, which is protecting the President of the United States’ son.
The first trailer has emerged, and we’re kinda loving it already. Lance tweeted his excitement saying:
I dreamt of days like this…. @NBCCrisis #thankful #NBCFall

Lil Wayne, Pitbull, Chris Brown Also Taking the Stage
Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne are among the superstars scheduled to take the stage at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards this coming Sunday (May 19th.) This year’s unofficial theme appears to be collaboration, and the two YMCMB stars will be performing their duet “High School” together.
Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull along with will.i.am and Justin Bieber are other expected collaborative performances at this year’s show.
Miguel, Chris Brown, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Bruno Mars will also be among the performers. Hosted by actor/comedian Tracy Morgan, the show airs live from Las Vegas on May 19th.
Nicki Minaj’s run as a judge on American Idol is about to be over. Reportedly, the YMCMB Barbie’s first season on the reality talent show will also be her last.
Us Weekly reports:
Another seat at the American Idol judges’ table will soon be up for grabs. On the heels of Randy Jackson’s announcement that he’s leaving the show after 12 seasons — and amid rumors that producers are firing the remaining three panelists — Us Weekly hears that Nicki Minaj will not return to the competition come fall.
“It’s safe to say she isn’t coming back to Idol,” an insider tells Us, adding that the “Roman Holiday” rapper will be focusing on her next album, touring, and endorsements. “She’s okay with it. She had a great time but was only going to do one season anyway.”
Minaj joined Idol as a judge in 2012. Even before the new season commenced, there was talk of a rivalry with fellow judge American Idol. The two have been sparring privately and publicly from the start.
Although Randy Jackson already announced his departure, the status of Carey and Keith Urban’s return is still unknown.

”I Can’t Be Bothered”
Nicki Minaj has been in feuds with veteran music stars like Mariah Carey and Lil Kim, as well as younger ones like Azealia Banks. In her recent cover story for Teen PEOPLE, Minaj said that she is not interested in participating in industry “games” any longer.
“People treat this business like it’s high school,” she says.
“It can absolutely feel like one big popularity contest, and you know what? I can’t be bothered,” Nicki claims. “I can’t allow myself to play ridiculous games with grown adults in the industry. I can’t be nice to someone just because they’re hot right now. I can’t do it.”
”There’s Nothing Wrong With Deleting…”
Nicki Minaj knows as well as anyone that social media can be quite double-sided. The Young Money rapstress began building a buzz for herself via MySpace before landing a major record deal, but she also became one of the most attacked celebrities on Twitter after her career took off.
In a new cover story with Teen PEOPLE, Minaj says she understands why anyone would want to walk away from social media sites.
“My journey to who I am today began on MySpace,” she says. “I love getting real opinions from people. I used to read the bad things people said about me. Then I asked myself, ‘Why am I reading that when I have millions of people saying great things?’ You cannot give negativity power. I tell teens, if you’re having a problem, there’s nothing wrong with deleting your social media. If people keep taunting you and you keep reading it, it’s poison.”

Nicki Minaj graces the current cover of Teen Vogue with her funky twist on girly couture. The “American Idol” judge is wearing a pink tutu for the June/July edition of the mag. In her interview Minaj opened up about her past, working in the music industry and even tackled the subject of online bullying.
Nicki talked to the mag about the ins and outs of the music industry and how sometimes she can’t take the “popularity contest” that it can sometimes be “People treat this business like its high school. It can absolutely feel like one big popularity contest, and you know what? I can’t be bothered,” she said. “I can’t allow myself to play ridiculous games with grown adults in the industry. I can’t be nice to someone just because they’re hot right now. I can’t do it.”
Nicki is a force to be reckoned with now, with her stint as a judge on “American Idol” and many awards under her belt- but the YMCMB rapper wasn’t always so confident as a kid. “Every time my parents fought, my mother would have us move and I would have to go to a new school, which meant I’d have to face the task of making new friends. I dreaded it,” she explained. “I had butterflies in my stomach each time: Are people going to like or hate me? … Sometimes there’d be a fight, sometimes not. I let people know I wasn’t going to be pushed around.”
With nearly 17 million followers on Twitter, it’s only inevitable that Nicki would get some haters online too. But the rapper knows how to deal with the negative comments- she told the mag she tries to ignore it. “I used to read the bad things people said about me. Then I asked myself, ‘Why am I reading that when I have millions of people saying great things?’ You cannot give negativity power,” she said. I tell teens, if you’re having a problem, there’s nothing wrong with deleting your social media. If people keep taunting you and you keep reading it, it’s poison.”
Nicki Minaj is set to perform “High School” at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards with Lil Wayne this weekend.

Nicki Minaj Says She THOUGHT Mariah Carey Was Her Friend, Doesn’t Regret Doing “American Idol” (E! Interview) + Porsha Stewart LANDS Role On “The Rickey Smiley Show.”
Nicki Minaj sat down with Ryan Seacrest to talk about her uncomfortable relationship with Mariah Carey and rumors about her departure from "American Idol." See what she said inside and get the deets on Porsha Stewart’s new acting gig…..
TV viewers may not know the final three contestants on "American Idol", but they sure know about the drama at the judges’ table between Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj. During a chat with "AI" host Ryan Seacrest for E! News last night, Nicki talked about her famous feud with Mimi and answered if she would be returning next year.
In discussing her "feud" with "Beautiful" singer Mariah, Nicki said they started out as friends…or so she thought. She soon realized that Mariah was, as hse claims, insecure and threatened by her shine.
"Imagine someone that you loved your whole life…imagine you meeting them and then all of a sudden feeling like you did something horrible to them but you just don’t know what you did," she told Seacrest. "That’s what my relationship with Mariah is, and that’s what it’s been from the beginning. I just really thought that we were friends, but…that’s the other thing I learned that this industry is so fake. You walk away thinking people are your friends and they’re not. It’s a couple nice hi and byes and then really, you better not step on nobody’s toes. And God forbid you get a little shine. And God forbid you’re maybe witty or quick on your toes or make someone laugh. Then maybe you’re making another person feel insecure. And you shouldn’t have to dim your light to let another person shine."
And when asked if she planned to return next year, Nicki didn’t give a straight answer but offered up a "sales pitch" about how much she loved the show.
"That’s a million-dollar question," she laughs. "I have to say this all the time, but I want people to know it’s genuinely from my heart. I love the people on Idol. I genuinely do. If I had to do this all over again, I would have done Idol. Because it’s fun, it’s laughs. It’s kind of sad that what people read all the time is only when something is negative. But they don’t realize that we built a family. I feel happy here and I have to thank them for giving me this chance. They could have picked anyone in the world. And they picked me. So that’s all I’ll say about that."

In other television castings…..
Porsha Stewart has landed an acting gig on "The Rickey Smiley Show." It’s time for chick to make her own money since her divorce is pending, so she’s going the Hollywood route. The "RHOA" star tweeted from the set,
"I’ve arrived! So excited on the set of my first TV acting role! Thanks guys my trailer is amazing! Reading the script. This is going to be so fun!”
Porsha didn’t reveal what role she would be playing or if this is a one-shot cameo, but we think her personality will mesh well with Ricky’s comedy. And during a hilarious appearance on Rickey’s radio show, she refuted rumors that her divorce was fake and jokingly declined an "application" from Rickey…

”This Industry Is So Fake…”
Nicki Minaj finally opened a bit about her ongoing feud with fellow “American Idol” judge Mariah Carey. Amid reports that neither star will be returning to the show next season, Minaj explained to E! television that she doesn’t understand why Carey has such a problem with her.
“Imagine someone you loved your whole life. Imagine meeting them and then, all of a sudden, feeling like you did something horrible to them but you just don’t know what you did,” Minaj said. “That’s what my relationship with Mariah is and that’s what it’s been from the beginning. I just thought that we were really friends but that’s the other thing I learned. This industry is so fake. You walk away thinking people are your friends and they’re not.”
