Jay-Z Buys Skylar Diggins A Mercedes-Benz [PHOTOS]
May 20th
Rolling with the Roc has its benefits. WNBA draft pick Skylar Diggins graduated from Notre Dame this weekend, and as a birthday present received a Mercedes-Benz from Jay-Z.
Diggins, aka Lil Wayne’s crush, signed with Roc Nation sports in late April. She was chosen as the no. 3 pick in the 2013 WNBA draft by the Tulsa Shock. But one important piece of unfinished business she had to handle, was graduating from Notre Dame yesterday (May 19).
“Graduation! This is for you, mom!,” was the caption of a picture of her self in her cap and gown that she shared on Instagram. The next pic was of her birthday gift; a Mercedes-Benz CLS complete with a red bow and a handwritten note (“Enjoy.”) from one Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter.
“Got surprised with a new mercedes! Thanks so much to Jay and @rocnation, and @dancyautogroup!”
She’s a professional now, so it’s all good.
Check out flicks of Diggins and her new fly whip auto in the gallery.

2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class – New Flagship Model To Redefine Luxury
May 17th

The decision to have the unveiling event inside of a Airbus hangar the A380 double-decker passenger jet in Hamburg tells plenty about the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class and its importance within the company. With the Maybach vehicle line no longer available, Mercedes is the only German automaker without a subsidiary to satisfy the needs of ultra-wealth clientele. Hence, the need to wow VIPs, spectators, guest, and world press & media with full-course dinner by world’s best chefs and a piano serenade by Alicia Keys.
Though just an inch or so longer and wider than the existing S-Class, designers at Mercedes completely reshaped the new edition. Sharing the same design DNA as the current crop of Mercedes vehicles, the 2014 S-Class looks to be a larger E-Class on front, with hints of CLS-Class on latter half of the car thanks to its sloping profile. This creates a drag coefficient of only 0.24, better than many new sedans out in the marketplace today.
In order to meet the demands and wishes of China’s nouveau riche, oil sheiks of the Middle East, and Russian oligarchs, Mercedes topped off the new S-Class with not just amenities but many “firsts” too, such as:
- The first ever car without a single light bulb: Featuring 56 LEDs for headlights, 35 LEDs for taillights, 4 LEDs for rear fog lights, and over 300 LEDs for interior lighting.
- Advanced Night View Assist Plus: Third-generation night vision system automatically switches the instrument cluster display from the speedometer to a crystal-sharp night view image, capable of detecting hazards on unlit at speeds over 60 km/h. Additional IR sensors at the front and rear for added precaution.
- Elegant new control centre: Two 12.3 inches TFT displays with the left one as the instrument cluster and the right one as infotainment information. Control is done through a rotary pushbutton with touch-sensitive telephone keypad for hands free calls and voice-control. Thanks to a “Corona” lighting effect, both screens appear to be floating in air.
- Five different rear seat variants: Front seats are electrically adjustable for length, height, inclination, seat cushion depth, with a 4-way Power lumbar support. Rear seats recline up to 45 degrees with calf support and temperature-controlled cupholders. All seats have temperature setting, ventilation-controlled, and massage functions.
- AIR-BALANCE package: Active perfuming system with four scents – Freeside Mood, Nightlife Mood, Downtown Mood, and Sports Mood. The perfumed air flows throughout the car’s interior via a separate ventilation system with adjustable setting.
- Communication centre and concert hall: State-of-the-arts communication and audio system with COMAND Online as its centerpiece. Powered by Intel Atmo processing chip, there is wireless connectivity to the Internet or real time navigation through Google Map. COMAND Online also creates separate Bluetooth connectivity for both front and rear passengers. Thanks to its Frontbass system, 24 speakers, and Burmester High-End 3D?Surround Sound, the in-car sound system rivals any live-performance within a concert hall.
Those are just some of the offerings you will find on the new 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Availability will start this September with the S550 sedan rolling into dealerships near you. The S550 4Matich will follow in November, plus a S63 AMG 4Matic model to come soon. Other possible variants include a plug-in hybrid, a twin-turbo V8, and an extended wheelbase in place of the defunct Maybach.

Drive Tests the Mercedes-Benz SLS Electric Drive on the Track
Apr 11th

Chris Harris is back again for Drive, this time taking Mercedes-Benz’s SLS Electric Drive for a spin on a wet racetrack. Though the car runs mainly on electricity, the SLS Electric Drive can channel 748 hp from its engine, which also gets 738 lb-ft of torque. While it may be easy to label the SLS Electric Drive as a ‘supercar’, Harris eloquently explains that Mercedes’ latest production with AMG is also a pivotal release with strong implications for the success of electric automobiles. Watch as he takes the stealthy car out for a ride in the most recent episode from Drive.
Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG “Edition 507″

Think of it as a “hot rod” for the Autobahns, the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG “Edition 507″ is essentially a SLS AMG supercar within a C-Class body. By transferring all the essential components found on a SLS AMG powerplant, the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG “Edition 507″ features an upgraded Mercedes AMG 6.3-liter V8 engine, capable of churning on 607 horsepower and a maximum torque of 610 Nm. Quipped with the same crankshaft, forged pistons, and connecting rods found on the SLS AMG, this top-of-the-line C-Class is capable of doing 0 to 62 mph in 4.2 seconds (in sedan and coupe versions) or 4.3 seconds (in station wagon variant). 2014 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG S Wagon
Mar 29th

Seemingly the result of some mad scientist, Frankenstein-like experiment, the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG S Wagon is what you get when you have a premier automaker stitch together a station wagon with a sports car. Just in case you need to literally make a quick trip to the store, this E63 is the ride to choose, capable of going 186 miles per hours thanks to a mind-blowing 577 HP, 590 lb-ft of torque, and a 3.6 second 0-60mph time. Wow. Just make sure to buckle up the kids. But, you should expect this from a car wearing the AMG label and packing MB’s 4Matic all-wheel-drive system with a limited-slip rear differential. On the outside, 10-spoke matte gray wheels pop with red brake calipers, which are needed to help slow one of the fastest four-doors to ever leave the AMG factory in Affalterbach. A leather interior, a Bang & Olufsen 1,200-watt sound system, and a new aero kit finish the details. Pricing wasn’t announced, but you won’t have to wait long to see this in the showrooms. Deliveries begin this summer.
