“Love & Hip Hop” Cast Boycott?

Reality Stars Allegedly Want More Money, Control
There is talk that all is not well in the world of “Love & Hip Hop.” Rumors abound that the New York âLove & Hip-Hopâ cast is refusing to report to the show’s taping until contract issues are sorted out. Which basically means they all want more money. TMZ claims that only a few people showed up to a recent taping, and others left once they realized that half of the cast wasn’t there. So apparently, almost everyone is boycotting in demand for more money. In addition to money, there’s talk that many of the cast members want to have more say in what footage gets aired. |
“LOVE & HIP HOP” Filming HALTED Over Contract DISPUTES And WALKOUTS
May 24th

The filming of "LAHH NY" didn’t start as scheduled after half of the cast stormed off set and the others didn’t bother to show up this week. Find out why the cast is so angry inside…
The cast of last season’s "LAHH NY" aren’t too pleased with Mona Scott-Young and the execs over at VH1. TMZ reports that the show was set to film a trailer on Tuesday, but hit a snafu when half the cast didn’t show up.
While half of the cast stayed home to protest failed contract renegotiations, those who did show up didn’t get anything accomplished either. Reportedly, there were several "stars" who stormed off the set.
Apparently, several members of the cast want their salaries doubled, while others, unhappy with how they were portrayed, would like more creative control.
As a result of the fallout, producers are meeting with angry cast memebers and hoping to have the-ish resolved by the end of the week.
SMH. Since there weren’t any breakout stars this season….what makes these folks think they can’t be replaced?

New Music: Shanell – ‘I Still Love You’ (702 Cover)
May 23rd

It’s Thursday and that means another throwback from Shanell. The Young Money diva, who will tour with Lil Wayne on the “America’s Most Wanted Music Festival” this summer, takes it back to 2003 with her cover of 702’s “I Still Love You.” She navigates the drum-heavy Neptunes production with ease, making it one of our favorites so far.

Love & Hip Hop New York Stars Revolt, Demand More Money
May 23rd
Seems like there is trouble in the reality TV paradise that is Love & Hip Hop New York. Reportedly half the cast didn’t show up to a scheduled event because they wanted to renegotiate their contracts, then the other half that did caught feelings because they want more loot, too.
Reports TMZ:
Big trouble on the set of VH1′s “Love & Hip Hop, New York” … TMZ has learned, the stars of the show are refusing to go to work … and it’s all because they think they’re getting shafted in contract negotiations.
Sources close to the show tell us, all cast members were supposed to be present Tuesday in NYC to film a trailer for the upcoming season, but only half of the cast showed up. The other half stayed home in protest because negotiations for their new contracts had gone sour.
We’re told the half that did show up then got upset … believing they too were entitled to revised contracts … and stormed off.
We’re told most of the cast members want more money — as much as double their last contract — but there are other problems too … some are pissed at how they were portrayed last season and they want more say in what footage gets aired.
We’re told emergency meetings have since been called with the angry cast members … and they’re hoping to get what they want by the end of the week.
If they don’t … we’re told the cast members plan to stick to their guns and continue their strike for as long as necessary. We reached out to VH1 for comment — so far, no word back.
Situations like these occur on just about any successful reality series. However, not every cast member has the leverage to demand more money. For example, Joe Budden and Tahiry Jose should be good money. But squeaky third wheel, and Joe’s ex, Kaylin Garcia…not so much.
As for input on how their footage is edited; good luck with that.

Desert Thirsty: 12 Things We Learned From Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta Ep. 5 [PHOTOS]
May 22nd
The fifth episode of the latest season of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta revealed just how struggle-filled everyone on this show’s life really is. Seriously, these cast members clearly wake up every morning with overt ratchetness and insane f-ckery on their agenda.
For example, K. Michelle admitted to basically “putting roots” on dudes. With an out of order “wahoo,” that clearly ain’t working out for her. There was a scene were Kirk and Beninzo were seeing playing basketball. No shots, but what is your life about if you are discussing your marriage on reality television with Zinio Grigio?
We also got some attempted fisticuffs between Karlie “Struggle Rapping” Redd and Joseline “The Puerto Rican Princess” Hernandez. Thankfully, the latter came through with a gang of one liners (“I don’t talk to the help.”) to keep us laughing all night. Check out The Princess Diaries: Top 15 Joseline Hernandez Quotes…So Far, too.
About the only positive of the episode was Mimi’s new boyfriend Nikko. However, as K. Michelle will surely point out in coming shows that homeboy may go both ways. Allegedly, of course. Take a look at 12 Things We Learned From Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta’s fifth and latest episode in the gallery.

Mimi Introduces Her New Boo, Rasheeda Shares A Big Secret On Love & Hip Hop Atlanta
May 21st
By Sowmya Krishnamurthy
Last night on Love & Hip Hop Atlanta, we meet Mimi’s new boo Nikko. Mimi is literally smiling from ear-to-ear and happy about her new man, but because Nikko is also a producer, she’s worried about trusting him after Stevie J. Mimi then introduces her girls to her new man. They are impressed. Nikko scores major points by sharing that he’s shooting a video and putting Mimi in it.
In less than happy couple news, Erica confronts Scrappy about finding questionable texts on his phone while he was asleep. “Once you go looking for something, you’re gonna find it,” Scrappy say. Erica isn’t sure what she wants anymore and isn’t wearing her engagement ring. “I think we need a break,” she says.
Kirk opens up to Benzino that he’s been going through family things and issues with Rasheeda. The two have been bickering about money and career and to make matters worse, we then find out that Rasheeda is pregnant. “This ain’t the best time,” she says, excited about having a child but also fearful of how it will affect her marriage.
Joseline and Stevie continue to have their own issues. Stevie says he equals love to money and Jos is disgusted. She threatens that she’ll leave for another man if he won’t love her the right way. The producer has been distracted with another female artist, who just so happens to show up serving drinks at a party Stevie throws for Joseline. Joseline is not happy about sharing Stevie’s attention. “I don’t talk to the help,” she says, refusing to even acknowledge the other girl.
Finally, Benzino confronts Karlie Redd about the alleged Joseline sex tape. He denies showing it to her and she fires back that he’s betrayed Stevie in the past. Karlie, Joseline and Stevie J then have a sit down to talk. Joseline has issues with Karlie now, although she initially didn’t care about Benzino’s allegations. The two women start arguing and almost get into a physical fight before security, as always, tears them apart. Friendship over.
