Swizz’s Ex Posts Pics Wearing Singer’s Custom Reeboks
Is Mashonda finally putting the fact that Alicia Keys stole her husband behind her? Mashonda posted an Instagram pic of her wearing a pair of A-Keyâs custom-designed Reeboks, surprising fans who undoubtedly recall how bitter her split from Swizz Beatz was and how much shade she threw on the Grammy-winning superstar for her role in that divorce. And many of her Instagram followers had nothing but high praise for her “maturity.” Both Mashonda and Alicia Keys have children with Swizzy at this point, so maybe she’s making nice for the sake of the little ones? Still, wearing your ex-husband’s new wife’s signature sneaker is going a bit far to extend an olive branch. Time will tell. |
Willow Smith DONS Vertical Stripes For Jada Pinkett’s “From Slavery To Freedom” Event + Alicia Keys PERFORMS “Tears Always Win” On “American Idol”
May 11th

Jada Pinkett Smith and daughter Willow raised awareness for the anti-slavery movement last night. Learn more about their cause inside and see Alicia Keys perform on "American Idol."

Last night, Jada Pinkett hosted the 15th Annual From Slavery to Freedom Event. The evening honored business leaders, volunteers, donors and students who are invested in social and systemic changes that aim to end modern-day slavery. You’ll recall that Jada has done several PSAs about human trafficking and other forms of modern-day slavery as the issue is close to her heart.

Jada’s fashionably eccentric daughter, Willow, supported her at the event, held at the Sofitel Hotel in Los Angeles. The younger Smith turned heads on the red carpet in a stripped pantsuit with a cropped leather jacket and bowler hat.

Jada, who wore a salmon-colored trouser suit, was also supported by singer Nicole Scherzinger, who attended in a sexy white slash-neck midi dress, which she belted at the waist.
After the event, Jada continued her efforts to raise awareness, tweeting her followers, "The #antislavery stats matter b/c they represent real people. We need to share stories that show stats AND dignify survivors. #DSBChat.’"
In other news about Jada, she’s set to produce a romantic drama called Salsa, starring the William Levy, who’s known as "the Cuban Brad Pitt."
And in television performances….
Alicia Keys appeared on "American Idol" last night where she sang "Tears Always Win". Apparently, the singer was a nervous before she hit the stage to performed the Bruno Mars-penned tune tweeting, “Looking at the audience is giving me butterflyz!!!. Feels like I’m trying out for the show too!!!” But Ms. Keys had no need to worry, her vocals were amazing and we’re sure she got America’s vote!

Lauryn Hill Thanks Alicia Keys, Stevie Wonder & More For Support
May 10th
While the clock is ticking on Lauryn Hill‘s impending prison term, she took some time out to thank her supporters who have been vocal during this time. Ms. Hill took her gratitude to her Tumblr page, where she listed several names of people who wrote letters to the judge on her behalf. The names traveled across the world, and even included some celebrities.
“I want to extend a sincere thank you to the following people,” Hill states in her open letter, “who wrote letters to the judge on my behalf.” Names included people from her native state of New Jersey, along with New York, Florida, Pennsylvania, and even the Dominican Republic and China. In addition, Hill thanked Alicia Keys, Stevie Wonder and Chris Schwartz – who co-founded Ruffhouse Records with Joe Nicolo, the label that signed the Fugees and ushered them through their monumental success.
Earlier this week, Lauryn Hill was sentenced to three months in prison for tax evasion. While her newly inked record deal (complete with a single) with Sony has alleviated a whopping 0,000 off her tax debt, she will still be entering prison sometime this Summer.
Hill blamed a number of factors that contributed to her failure to pay her taxes, including slavery coupled with a handful of conspiracy theories. The judge has ordered that Hill seeks treatment for her beliefs in addition to her jail/probation time.

Erykah Badu Does HILARIOUS Interview With Kendrick Lamar + Alicia Keys Writes To Judge To Save Lauryn Hill…& Lauryn Says Thanks
May 10th

Erykah Badu switched jobs for a day to work for Interview magazine. And her first subject…is hot rapper Kendrick Lamar. Check out what she asked him about how he chooses groupies, who he’s scared of having his business out there and more…
In the latest issue of Interview magazine, Erykah Badu plays reporter and interviews "Swimming Pools" rapper Kendrick Lamar about his cereal, his groupies and more. But our fave answer? His insightful comment about what he envies about women. This could be the reason chicks love his music so much.
Here are the highlights from their Interview chit chat:
BADU: How do you choose chicks from backstage?
LAMAR: How do I choose chicks from backstage?
BADU: Yeah, what is the protocol?
LAMAR: I try not to. [laughs] I’m too scared. Anybody who knows me knows that I’m probably the most scared person when it comes to that because I’m so caught up in the act of sex, of something going crazy, going out of my control. I’m too paranoid.
BADU: [laughs] So you just pass?
LAMAR: I’ve got to because I’ve seen a situation where it got totally out of hand, where something seemed so innocent, and now this person has got allegations on them. It spooked me. This was before my career really started, though—before any “Kendrick Lamar.” And that right there? It changed my whole perception about certain things. I’ll always keep that in the back of my head.BADU: So who is your asshole-checker?
LAMAR: Who is my what?
BADU: Your asshole-checker—the person in your crew or your family who let’s you know if you’re being a asshole.
LAMAR: I have two, actually. [both laugh] But the main one is a friend of mine—a lady friend who has known me since high school. She has always been someone, since day one, who has said something whenever I’m an asshole, or also if I’m doin’ something positive—but more so when I’m out of my element.BADU: What’s your favorite cereal?
LAMAR: Fruity Pebbles. When people ask for my rider, they think I’m crazy: Fruity Pebbles, baked chicken, bottle of Hennessy, and some Polo socks.BADU: What do you, as a man, envy about what it means to be a woman?
LAMAR: There’s just a certain knowledge instilled in a woman. There are these things that women have that men just can’t grasp: the understanding of love; the understanding of being; having a certain type of care in your heart and knowing when to be compassionate; knowing how to be a confidante…
BADU: That’s a good perspective. Something I envy that men have is that ability to grow a goatee. I think that’d be really hot on me.
And one of the only normal questions:
ERYKAH BADU: Can you describe how it feels to be in this cyclone of good fortune that you’re experiencing right now? How are you handling all of it?
KENDRICK LAMAR: I always thought money was something just to make me happy. But I’ve learned that I feel better being able to help my folks, ’cause we never had nothing. So just to see them excited about my career is more of a blessing than me actually having it for myself. My folks ain’t graduated from high school or nothing like that, so we always had to struggle in the family—and I come from a big family. But as far as me handling this, it’s a weird feeling because it’s like a blur right now. I think my worst problem is actually living in the moment and understanding everything that’s going on. I feel like I’m in my own bubble. People tell me all the time, "You’re crazy, going there by yourself," because it wouldn’t have soaked in yet that I’m supposed to be quote "Kendrick Lamar"—whoever this guy’s supposed to be. I still feel like me. So it’s really about me trying to adapt—that’s like the toughest thing for me right now. I feel like I’m in my own world.
Meanwhile, some singers are reaching out on Lauryn Hill’s behalf to make please to her judge in her tax evasion case. And on her Tumblr, Lauryn pointed out both Alicia Keys & Stevie (as well as the name of each fan who reached out) as being two of the celebs going to bat for her:
"I want to extend a sincere thank you to the following people, who wrote letters to the judge on my behalf: Linda Banks, Edison, NJ Davonne Breedlove Binna Choi, Beijing, China Hafiz Farid, East Orange, NJ Miriam Anne Banks Farrakhan, Union, NJ Vincent Gardner, New York, NY Michael Green, Fair Bluff, NC Elitta Harden, Ft Worth, TX Mrs. Valarie Hill, South Orange, NJ Maureen Hogan, Jersey City, NJ Walter Jones, New York, NY Alicia Keys Elena Lau, Toronto, Canada Jerald Miller, New York, NY Tracy Morris, Jacksonville Beach, FL Elise Munoz, France Bunmi Olukoya, Laurel, MD Jimmie Pierre, Trenton, NJ Cherisse Pittman Gabrielle Fulton Ponder, Atlanta, GA Dominique Reese, Oakland, CA Chris Schwartz, Philadelphia, PA Ashley Scott, Brooklyn, NY Derek Singletary, Astoria, NY Dr. Sara Tai, Manchester, UK Suzette Williams, Teaneck, NJ Lisa Willis, Philadelphia, PA Stevie Wonder Jonathan Wunderlich, Cabarete, DR"
Sweet.
And she expressed her gratitude to all her supporters:
"And thank you Jerald Miller, for taking the initiative to put this together. I also want to thank all of my family, friends, business associates, and fans who have called, emailed, sent texts, and posted messages of concern, encouragement, and support. I appreciate the well wishes, and I thank you for your prayers. Also, to anyone who may have written letters that we did not know about, thank you also, all of you. I will have more to say soon, but did not want to further delay expressing my appreciation. Thank you again, MLH"
Keep you rhead up L Boogie!

The fashion was fierce at the 2013 Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on Monday. The theme this year was punk, but not all the celebrities adhered to the dress code.
Beyoncé was the belle of the ball in a black-and-gold Givenchy haute couture gown, topping off her regal look with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.
Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci also dressed dad-to-be Kanye West and his pregnant girlfriend Kim Kardashian, while Frank Ocean and Madonna joined them at the Givenchy table.
Nicki Minaj sported curly blonde hair and a blue gown, designed by Tommy Hilfiger. To thank her for her support, the designer gifted her with a Rolex earlier in the day.
Solange was beautiful in a blue Kenzo creation, Alicia Keys wowed in Jason Wu, Jennifer Lopez showed off her curves in Michael Kors, and Rita Ora modeled Thakoon.

Alicia Keys – “New Day” [VIDEO]
May 1st
It’s the first of the month, a fitting day for Alicia Keys to drop the visuals for her Swizz Beatz-produced track, “New Day.”
The clip is a montage of AK-47 rocking synchronized dance moves with her crew from a city streets to the stage. Always in an Empire State of mind, Alicia recruits hoodied graffiti artists for a spray painted mural. Nice touch.
Fans may remember a version of the track released this summer, that also included 50 Cent and Dr. Dre. But this season, Alicia’s claimed this one for her own, further fueling her spring hustle. Less than a week ago, she steamed up the screen with leading man Maxwell for the cinematic “Fire We Make” video, set in New Orleans. Blackberry’s Global Creative Director is also wrapping her Set The World On Fire tour with Miguel.
Alicia Key’s latest album, Girl On Fire, is in stores. Ring in May with “New Day” below.
