The Nike Year Of The Horse (Nike Kobe NSW “YOTH” and Nike Flight Exposed “YOTH”) are in stores now, to coincide with the Year of the Horse in the Lunar New Year; an annual celebration unrivaled in Chinese culture. With the fresh start, it’s a chance to both reflect and celebrate.
The collections is inspired by the strength and symbolism of the horse, as the Nike Kobe 9 NSW Lifestyle differs from the rest of the pack in its usage of pony hair across the upper. That material seems like a no-brainer as far as the “YOTH” theme is concerned, but Nike has for the most part ignored it-presumably wanting to ignore any sort of convention or expectations people may have had surrounding the set. The Nike Air Flightposite Exposed features a horse-in-motion graphic across the upper along with the implantation of the traditional Chinese character “ma” meaning horse.
Available in stores now.
Looking forward to the opening of our first Flight 23 at Footaction store located on 34th Street (between 7th & 8th Avenue) in NYC. The storefront currently has an 18-foot tall classic Jordan shoebox serving as a construction barrier. Behind that barrier, the Footaction and Jordan Brand teams are hard at work creating the very first Flight 23 at Footaction store, one of many more to come in North America. Keep following us here at the blog as well as @Footaction on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook for further updates and the latest information.
The Nike Air Zoom Flight The Glove is back in yet another colorway, as we’ve seen many come through in the past few months. This one is dominantly Green Abyss. The Gary Payton signature shoe sports an Air Tech Challenge-style assortment of bright tones. The shoe drips orange, pink and purple onto the shoe’s signature zip-up shroud in teal. Appearing once more on the outsole is solid orange, while solid-pink recurs on the inner-shoe and collar-trim.
Available in stores and online on Saturday. Check out Release Locator for stores.
In 2013, Nike Basketball reintroduced the classic 1998 Gary Payton Air Zoom Flight The Glove in it’s OG colorways as well as some team-inspired mashups such as the Lakers, Oregon State and even the Sole Collector collab. Now in 2014, the first one to hit shelves is a brand new premium graphic print version that is the first we’ve seen of its kind. This newest iteration dropping this Saturday features a shroud with a heavy tech challenge-inspired look showcasing hits of blue, purple, turquoise and a green abyss overlay. This is certainly the most unique Flight Glove colorway we’ve seen to date.
The Nike Air Zoom Flight The Glove PRM “Green Abyss” drops this Saturday, January 11th at select House of Hoops by Foot Locker stores for $ 150. Additional shipments will be arriving next week to all House of Hoops stores. Check the Launch Locator to see which stores will be getting the shoe this weekend and let us know what you think of this release in the comments.
Digging through the crates of sneaker archives for this week’s Flight School, we stumbled upon the Reebok S. Carter, a boundary-breaking and well-hyped sneaker by Jay Z. To take you down memory lane, the S. Carter marked the first time Reebok made a shoe endorsed by an entertainer. The terms of the deal were loose as Jay Z didn’t need to wear Reebok all the time and the design of the sneaker was very similar to a certain Gucci tennis shoe. It sounds odd to say that these dropped a decade ago as it feels like yesterday but that might be large-in-part of Jay Z consistently being the innovative artist creating #newrules.
Christmas Day is just two days away and that means some of the game’s greatest players will be wearing special colorways celebrating one of the biggest basketball days of the year! This year Jordan Brand and its athletes are celebrating the holiday season with flight-inspired exclusive footwear for Christmas Day. The visual elements in each shoe are inspired by air travel, paying homage to the spirit of traveling to be with family during the holiday season. Each shoe features flight patterns and circular radar imagery representing a busy air traffic control station. The bright colors and reflective materials on the upper are complimented by dark accents and a speckled pattern on the outsole.
Christmas Day offers a unique opportunity for Jordan Brand as Russell Westbrook (wearing the AIR JORDAN XX8 SE) travels to New York City to face Carmelo Anthony (wearing the Jordan Melo M10). Across the country, Chris Paul (in the CP3.VII) and Blake Griffin (wearing the Super.Fly2) will take the court in the last game of the day in hopes of tying a ribbon on a great day of basketball.
Although each shoe brings its own style, they’re all designed for one thing: taking your game higher. Performance technology such as Flight Plate and Dynamic Fit paired with premium materials and exclusive design elements ensure you’ll get noticed when you step on the court this winter.
The Air Jordan XX SE, Melo M10, CP3.VII and Super.Fly2 “Flight Before Christmas” edition drop tomorrow, December 24th in select House of Hoops by Foot Locker stores and Footlocker.com.
