Estelle Supports Chris Brown

”Don’t Let Us Raise Your Children”
Estelle voiced her support for R&B star Chris Brown. Brown has come under heavy criticism for his high-profile appearance at this year’s Grammys and his collaborations with his ex-girlfriend, pop star Rihanna. Brown infamously assaulted Rihanna back in 2009, but many detractors have emerged in the wake of the young star semi-rehabilitating his public image. “Parents, raise your kids. Young men and women, raise your kids. Don’t let us raise your children. That’s my take on it,” she explains to VIBE. “I respect him, I love him, he does amazing music, and has evolved. He’s worked his a** off, so why are people still crucifying him? … I just think people need to worry about their lives per say. Don’t worry about who he’s recording songs, who he’s doing this with if you enjoy the music. A lot of the same people were two stepping to ‘Look At Me Now,’ so it’s kind of like, keep your story straight or just don’t judge. Roll with it or don’t, but don’t dip in and out. We all make mistakes. A sin is a sin is a sin. It’s no big smoke, let the boy live. He does music.” |

Mar 14th

R&B chick Estelle covers the March 2012 issue of "VIBE VIXEN" were she dishes on failed relationships, Lauryn Hill and being a celebrity. Highlights inside….
In the latest issue of VIBE VIXEN, Estelle is giving pretty face time and is featured in an article called ‘Estelle: All Dressed Up In Love.’ She dishes on failed relationships and being inspired by Lauryn Hill. Here are the highlights….
On the failed relationship that inspired her album All Of Me
I didn’t feel good. I didn’t wake up in the morning smiling. In arelationship when that starts to happen, you might want to push them while you’re in it. They say through thick and thin, but when it’s always thick and it’s always bad and it’s always negative, it’s never really going to turn into something. You know it’s going to be wrong but you’re like, no I want to stick around. It’s a waste of your life.On being a celebrity in a relationship
You’re going to pay for it for who you are somehow. I won’t complain. I love my life, I love my job, I love what the hell I do, and I love who I am. This is my existence. This is what I do. But it’s a tough thing to have to deal with always having that hung over your head, that feeling of well, he might throw that at me that he cooked for me today, like that’s not standard. I didn’t cook for him the entire week because, well, I’m me and I should be lucky that somebody wants to do that for me.
On the album’s Lauryn Hill influence
That was intentional. I think people need to talk. They need to have the conversation that [Lauryn’s] album had. They need to have that pull together that the album had and remind people that skits are fun, too. And it reminded me that I wasn’t alone, again.
A second cover for the issue hits stands later this month. Check out the full article at 12p ET over at VIBE VIXEN.

And across the pond…..

Estelle was seen leaving Aura nightclub at 3am on St James Street in London this morning.

She recently chatted with S2S where she revealed what she doesn’t like about the music business saying,
"What I didn’t like was the general perception that well, you shouldn’t be different. Why are you trying to be different? It was like, ‘I’m not.’ It disturbed me. It wasn’t like saying I was being quirky or anything, it was more like, ‘How dare you be cultured and assured, ‘cause none of us are.’ And, ‘How dare you know who you are?’ That kind of energy. And I was like, ‘Oh, well, I don’t know how to answer that. All I know how to do is be me.’
