Big K.R.I.T. Performs At Broccoli City Earth Day Celebration [VIDEO/PHOTOS]
Apr 27th
Hip-Hop is going green. In celebration of Earth Day earlier in the week, Big K.R.I.T. performed at the inaugural Broccoli City Fest held at the Washington D.C. Fairgrounds Monday (April 21).
Nearly 5,000 people were in attendance, giving the venue one of its largest crowds to date.
While K.R.I.T. headlined the event, more than 10 local performers also took the stage.
The daylong festival was aimed at educating members of the community, unaware of the benefits of a healthy and sustainable lifestyle choices. In addition to live music performances, the Fest offered various activities including art, dance lessons, and group yoga, the latter of which was led by event partners Sweat Everyday and C4 Performing Arts.
In keeping with the “green” theme, food trucks offered organic and locally grown menu items.
D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray and Rev. Lennox Yearwood of the Hip Hop Caucus also showed their support.

LRG will present attendees with gifts and Cam’ron will treat them to a special guest performance. LRG indicated that the event is to be a celebration, with no gloom-and-doom imagery. âRather than speculate to whether this will hold true, LRG is preparing accordingly because the âLast day on Earthâ shouldnât be spent worrying. Rather, it should be a celebration of all that has been accomplished prior as well as the promise for what the mysterious future may hold,â representatives from LRG told AllHipHop. |
