Drake Rocks Afro On Set of ‘Anchorman 2’
May 18th

Drake stepped back in time while shooting his cameo in Anchorman: The Legend Continues on Saturday. The former “Degrassi” star rocked some ’70s swag including an Afro and Members Only jacket while on set with actors Will Ferrell and Christina Applegate in Manhattan.
Drizzy isn’t the only rapper set to make an appearance in the comedy. Kanye West was spotted shooting a cameo alongside Steve Carrell in Atlanta earlier this month. In his funny scenes, Yeezy choked “The Office” star with a hockey stick.
The sequel to 2004’s Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy arrives in theaters December 20.

The 24 Hour Turn Up: Drake Runs Amuck In Miami [PHOTOS/VIDEO]
May 17th
In the midst of a busy week, Drake took to a trip to Miami for a mixture of fun, rest, and relaxation. But can you blame him? The October’s Very Own rapper is diligently working on his third studio album Nothing Was The Same, and that can be a stressful process.
With that, Drizzy hit South Beach and left a trail of breadcrumbs detailing his vacation activity in the process. This included an impromptu performance at Miami’s new hotspot, STORY, last night, where he ran through a brief set including “Love Me, “Started From The Bottom,” and “No New Friends.”
A flick on Instagram showed the Toronto native looking very chummy with G.O.O.D. Music’s first lady Teyana Taylor during the course of the night. “F**k all ya’ll n***as…except my n***as…meet the exception,” reads the caption, but that didn’t stop the Internets from spreading rumors.
A camera was also on tab to capture some of Drake’s daytime activity, which mostly involved cooling it poolside with some compadres. In one photo, the YMCMB rapper looks to be gesturing some woman to call him. But that’s just our observation.
Let that boy Drake cook, though. He received enough slander from the Dada shorts set he donned during a video shoot a few days ago. On a more positive note, the Grammy winner announced the lineup for the fourth annual OVO Fest and received 12 nominations for the 2013 BET awards.

Drake Posts Teyana Taylor Pic

”Meet the Exception…”
What is going on with Drake and Teyana Taylor? Young Money rapper Drizzy posted a very affectionate-looking Instagram photo of himself and G.O.O.D. Music artist Teyana Taylor looking booed-up. To add to the intrigue, Taylor re-posted the image on her own account shortly thereafter. Under his post, Drake added a caption that seemed to indicate there’s something there. “F**k all yall n***as…except my n***as…meet the exception,” it read, with the added hashtag, “#DayOne” Could this be the start of a YMCMB/G.O.O.D. alliance? Or would Drizzy and T.T. be hip-hop’s star-crossed lovers? And isn’t Taylor one of Chris Brown’s peeps? |
Drake Chills Poolside in Miami
May 17th

Drake escaped to Miami for some work and play. After shooting a video for “No New Friends” with DJ Khaled and Rick Ross earlier in the week, Drizzy relaxed poolside with some friends at his hotel. He showed off his fit physique as he lay shirtless and enjoyed some female company.
Later in the evening, he hit up STORY nightclub, where he partied with Teyana Taylor and performed “Started From the Bottom” and “No New Friends” (via Miss Info).
His third album Nothing Was the Same is due later this summer. “I promise you I will give you that soundtrack that you’re looking for this summer,” he told clubgoers.

RAPPERS’ DELIGHT: Kanye Performs New Track “Awesome” & RANTS At Surprise NYC Show + Drake (& His OVO Fest), Khaled, Swizz & More Shoot “No New Friends” Video
May 17th

Kanye West returned to NYC yesterday to give a secret concert last night at the Adult Swim network Upfronts. And, once again, he performed his new track "Awesome" and dedicated it to his baby moms Kim Kardashian. And he also did a surprise listening session (pictured above) in the City last night.
We’ve got pics and video, plus Khaled, Drake and more on the set of their "No New Friends" video…
Before heading backstage or elsewhere in the city (we can’t tell) to preview his music for a room full of folks, Kanye West took the stage at the Roseland Ballroom during the Adult Swim Upfronts (like he did 5 years ago as well) to rock out. Kanye style.

This means a performance, inside of a pyramid, of his new song "Awesome" no one knows (and it seems no one is really feeling) complete with interstitial rants about the paparazzi. He must still be mad about walking head first into that steel pole in front of them.
Check out video of his rant below. He said he’s "not apologizing to no muthaf*ckers" and he’s not a celebrity. This guy is hilar:
And videos of his performances of "Awesome" and "Yeezy Season":
Kanye’s set to perform on the "SNL" season finale this Saturday, May 18th.
In other rap news:

DJ Khaled got all his homies together to shoot the video for "No New Friends" off his upcoming Suffering From Success album. The DJ–who rarely ever does anything more than scream out "We The Best" on every track–brought in Drake (who appears on the song), Birdman, Ace Hood & Swizz Beatz to shoot the vid.
Everyone else was just there to make a cameo and to drink up:

Rick Ross is on the track and showed up to shoot the vid of course. Looks like Ricky’s getting a beard shapeup….
By the way, Drake announced today that the 4th annual hip hop summer festival OVO FEST will for the first time span two days and take place August 4th and 5th at Toronto’s Molson Canadian Amphitheatre.
The T.Dot native sent out a press release about his festival:
Tickets to OVO FEST go on sale May 24th at 10:00AM EDT and will be available as a two day festival pass, with a limited number of lawn seats available as single day passes. Night one of OVO FEST will feature a headlining performance by rising star Frank Ocean with special guests including James Blake. Night two will be headlined by Drake and feature other artists to be announced. OVO FEST, which last year sold out in seven minutes, will once again see Drake bring hip hop’s most buzzed about artists to his hometown in advance of his upcoming album NOTHING WAS THE SAME.
Nice.

Drake Announces The 4th Annual OVO Fest
May 16th
Drake season has officially returned. After setting the Internets on fire thanks to behind the scenes photos of a new video and a throwback outfit, Drake announced the 4th Annual OVO Fest last night.
The weekend long festival goes down on August 4 and August 5 at the Molson Canadien Ampitheatre in Toronto. Saturday will be headlined by James Blake and Frank Ocean while Drake and “special guests” will hold down Sunday.
Last year’s participants in the 2012 OVO Fest included 2 Chainz and A$AP Rocky, while big time surprise guests in the past have included Jay-Z, Nas and Eminem. So fans can expect some A-list names to pop in again. Until then, we’re waiting on that “No New Friends” video, which will surely be entertaining.
Drake’s third proper album, Nothing Was The Same, is due out later this year. Tickets for the 4th Annual OVO Fest go on sale May 24 at 10 a.m. via Live Nation and start at .50.

Drake, Rick Ross Toast with DJ Khaled in ‘No New Friends’ Video
May 15th

DJ Khaled made another movie with his friends on Wednesday. The Cash Money DJ held court on set of his flashy video for “No New Friends,” the first single off his upcoming album Suffering From Success.
The YMCMB crew took over a mansion in Miami with some video vixens and briefcases full of cash, making it rain for the cameras. Twelve-time BET Awards nominee Drake rocked a throwback Dada outfit, while Rozay and Khaled popped Belaire Rosé champagne. Ace Hood and Birdman stopped by to make cameos in the Colin Tilley-directed clip.
See them live it up on set below.

Drake Shoots “No New Friends” Video, Inspires Slander [PHOTOS]
May 15th
Does the Drake slander ever get old? This time the Toronto rapper has drawn the wrath of the Internets thanks to behind the scenes photos of the video shoot for “No New Friends.”
In one particular pic, Drizzy is seen sporting a suspect outfit that involves black Timberland boots, black and white socks and what looks like an OG black and yellow Dada shorts set. Yes, a Dada shorts set, top and bottom. So far we have seen the “5AM In Dallas” rapper get compared to a Fu-Schnicken and an extra from Above The Rim. There is no chill on Twitter.
We’ll give the YMCMB rapper the benefit of the doubt and say that this throwback gear must have to do with the visual’s storyline. We also see a couple of video vixens along with Rick Ross and DJ Khaled.
As for the song, Khaled gets top billing and it features Lil Wayne and Rozay, but it’s clearly a Drake tune. No word on when the video is scheduled to drop. But peep the behind the scenes pics and some more of Drake’s recent activities, like hitting the gym, in the gallery.

Drake Scores A Dozen 2013 BET Awards Nominations
May 15th
The 2013 BET Awards are on the way, and the nominations are in. The official list of nominees was dominated by Drake, who leads the pack with 12 nominations. Drizzy is a popular guy, after all.
Drake is featured in the “Best Collaboration” category four times thanks to his standout verses on 2 Chainz’s “No Lie,” A$AP Rocky’s “F-cking Problems,” French Montana’s “Pop That” and Kendrick Lamar’s “Poetic Justice.” Lamar and 2 Necklaces come closest to Drizzy’s nomination greed with eights nods each.
The “Best Male Hip Hop Artist” category should be hotly contested between 2 Chainz, A$AP Rocky, Drake, Future and Kendrick Lamar. As “Best Female Hip Hop Artist,” it will lead to head scratching considering Azealia Banks hasn’t dropped her debut yet, Eve just about to drop her album while Nicki Minaj, Rasheeda and Rye Rye round out the category.
The 2013 BET Awards go down at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on June 30.
