Beyonce’s Tour Rider Has Items We Didn’t Know Existed

We already know that Beyonce has banned professional photography on her Mrs. Carter World Tour, but now a leaked tour rider with a list of quirky demands is tickling the Internets.
Beyonce is essentially royalty so it doesn’t seem all that surprising that the pop diva has some special requirements when she is away from home. There are some pretty odd requests ranging from 0 dollars’ worth of titanium straws to only using red toilet paper. And besides the red toilet paper, Bey requests that she get a new toilet seat at every event. Who wouldn’t want a brand new toilet seat everywhere? We hear you on that one B.
The 0 dollars’ worth of titanium drinking straws seems a little much but knowing Beyonce there’s a rhyme and reason for everything. The straws are apparently used to drink special alkaline water at exactly 21 degrees.
Other details leaked from the rider include things like requiring everyone on the crew to wear 100 percent cotton at all times to ensure Beyonce doesn’t have an allergic reaction and only off-white walls for her dressing room. She also requests that she have a hand-carved ice ball to suck on after performances to soothe her throat- her pipes have to be tired after belting out song after song.
Bey, being the face of the “Let’s Move” Campaign banned all junk food from her tour and asked that only almonds, oatcakes and green-only crudités be served. A healthier crew is a happier crew right?
The rumor mill is buzzing over these wacky demands and saying that it rivals the likes of Madonna and Mariah Carey but we still love you B.
Essence Atkins Pops Off, Says “Tyler Perry’s ‘Experiment’ With Casting Kim Kardashian DIDN’T WORK!”

Actress Essence Atkins has something to say about directors who cast certain Hollywood chicks for superficial reasons. Check out how the Haunted House star went in about Tyler Perry’s marketing tactics only led to people not wanting to see his movie…
It’s almost like a verbal slap to those who think Twitter followers trump everything in life. And as a black actress in Hollywood, which is arguably one of the hardest jobs, the casting of Kim Kardashian in a Tyler Perry film (Temptation) could feel like a slap in the face as well.
Jobs are few and far between for Black actresses. So when a director who controls more of his empire than most well-known directors chooses to overlook true talent for a simple marketing tool, you can expect for one of those said credible black actresses to speak about it.
While doing press for the home/DVD release of the hit film Haunted House–which already nabbed a deal for a sequel and was a hit at the box office–Essence Atkins said what most black actresses were thinking: Tyler Perry’s "experiment" didn’t work. And she explained to S2S why Twitter followers don’t equate ticket sales at the box office:
"I found it interesting that Tyler did that with Temptation, hiring Kim Kardashian because she has 16 million Twitter followers, which would seem like a brilliant marketing plan [...] He has one of the biggest Twitter personalities out there in his movies, and he had one of the worst box office weekends [...] It’s not a failure, but it did worse than his movies usually do just based on him [...] I thought that was an interesting finding. Your experiment didn’t work. [...] People want to see good stories. It’s not necessarily that they want to see Kim Kardashian in a movie. They want to see her in a bikini. They want to see her with Kanye [West]. They want to see her on her show talking about her life with her sisters, but that doesn’t mean that they want to see her in a movie [...] The fact that people want to see their lives and the volatility of that…. I don’t think that it translates at all.”

Lauryn Hill Say She Didn’t Pay Taxes Because Of “Threats” To Family

Lauryn Hill is going to have a tough time proving this one. After already pleading guilty to tax evasion last year, the enigmatic singer has filed paperwork that says she didn’t pay Uncle Sam because she felt “threatened.”
Reports TMZ:
Lauryn just filed legal docs asking for mercy before her sentencing later this month, claiming there was a good reason she failed to file tax returns for 2005, ’06 and ’07 … when she earned a total of more than .8 million. She already pled guilty and faces several years in prison.
According to docs … Lauryn stopped paying taxes “when she withdrew from society at large due to what she perceived as manipulation and very real threats to herself and her family.”She’s not specific about the threats — but it’s a new explanation for her mysterious disappearance from the music scene after her rise to fame in the ’90s.
Lauryn previously claimed she went underground to get back in touch with her musical roots.
Lauryn’s asking the court to consider a bunch of other factors before her sentencing — including her claim that she can pay off the debt much faster if she’s not behind bars.
Hill’s previous explanation to her tax struggle included a Tumblr rant where she claimed that she removed herself from society in order to keep her family “safe, healthy, and free from danger.”
So it seems like L Boogie is basically saying her fame resulted in an inability to write a check to the United States Treasury. For the sake of her children—she has six—good luck with that.
Lauryn Hill will be sentenced on April 22 and hopes to receive probation instead of any jail time.

Beyonce And Jay-Z Didn’t Check With Obama Before Cuba Trip?

Jay-Z and Beyonce celebrated their five-year wedding anniversary recently with a trip to Cuba but now the power couple may be in trouble with the U.S. government reps after their excursion. We just assumed that Hov got Obama on the phone before booking the trip to get the greenlight.
According to the NY Times, two Republican members of the U.S. House of Representatives, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Mario Diaz-Balart, have asked Adam J. Szubin, the director of the Office of Foreign Assets Control at the Treasury Department, about how the duo received a license to visit Cuba.
“Cuba’s tourism industry is wholly state-controlled, therefore, U.S. dollars spent on Cuban tourism directly fund the machinery of oppression that brutally represses the Cuban people,” claim the Reps. Americans can only go to Cuba for authorized reasons. The NY Times reports that those who violate the travel ban can get up to a 10-year prison sentence or a 0,000 fine. Many Americans violate the ban by traveling to an intermediary country and then going to Cuba from there.
The Havana Times shares that Bey and Jay enjoyed a dinner at the famous La Guarida private restaurant, a walk through Old Havana and visits with the Danza Contemporanea Troupe. Fans crowded around the famous pair and took to calling out Beyonce’s name until she finally came out into the balcony to wave hello to the throng. Snapshots of Bey and Jay showed them enjoying the trip including, one flick of Jay puffing away on a Cuban cigar.

Nelly spoke about marriage and industry relationships in an interview with VladTV, in what kind of-sort of explains why he and longtime “unofficial” girlfriend Ashanti never got married. It doesn’t sound like the St. Louis rhymer is trying to get tied down to anyone–not even if she’s famous. “The thing about marriage is nobody is going to force me into anything,” Nelly said. “Nobody is going to rush me into anything. I take marriage very seriously. I only know two ways of marriage. My parentâs marriage did not last at all and my grandparentâs marriage lasted for 60 years. So Iâm either gonna go all the way to 60 or Iâm not gonna do it. You see what Iâm saying? Youâre gonna know when its right. Flavor Flav’s Fiancee Didn’t Overdose?

”Could Not Be Further From the Truth”
Despite wide reports on yesterday that Flavor Flav’s fiancee, Liz Trujillo, had suffered an overdose on some unspecified pill, TMZ is now reporting that the rapper’s people are shooting down the story. Various individuals that were allegedly affiliated with “Couples Therapy,” the reality show on which Flav and Trujillo currently star, claimed that Trujillo was acting strangely and blamed it on her taking too many pills. But Flav’s team says don’t believe the hype. “The claim of an overdose, or any involvement of drugs, could not be further from the truth,” a rep told TMZ. Clarification or cover-up? |
Lil Wayne Is ‘Glad’ He Didn’t Make ‘Hottest MCs’ List

This year MTV News “Hottest MCs in the Game VIII” list really rubbed a few rappers the wrong way (including Kanye West, who actually did an interview to complain about his placement) but at least Lil Wayne didn’t seem to be offended by being left out of the top 10.
During an interview with Power 106 in Los Angeles on Thursday, he addressed his health issues, revealing that he’s epileptic and Wayne was also asked about his exclusion from the “Hottest MCs” list. He clearly wasn’t that upset about it though, because he laughed while delivering his answer, replying. ”I didn’t even check the top 10 list, but I’m glad I didn’t make it either. I probably pissed some people off at MTV or somethin’, I dunno.”
Wayne’s new album I Am Not A Human Being II debuted last week, and it’s expected to sell approximately 200K copies in its first week, which falls shy of his monster debut with Tha Carter IV, which sold over 900K in its first week on the charts.

Waka Flocka Flame is still addressing his fans’ and the media’s desire to create some type of romantic connection between he and starlet Selena Gomez. Despite sharing that Gomez had nothing to do with his current rift with Gucci Mane, Waka still had to clarify where the rumors came from. “That’s just fans and I’m a friendly person, fans [felt] like I should mess with Selena,” Waka said in an interview with MTV. “I guess that’s what my fans want me to do, but I [tweeted] out that you should respect her, [because] she got a career. “That was real random,” he added, explaining that he hadn’t actually known her name before the tweets began. “Honestly, I knew what it was but I never knew her name or nothing, till I put two and two together, then I Googled her and was like damn ‘she look good.’” “I ain’t know that was Justin Bieber’s girl,” he added. “No disrespect to Justin Bieber — he’s like, the next Michael Jackson — but I don’t even know a Justin Bieber song ’cause we’re both in two different worlds.
