Rap-Up TV: Ludacris Talks ‘#IDGAF’ Mixtape, Chris Brown Collabos, & ‘Ludaversal’
May 23rd
Ludacris is back with his first project in three years, DTP Presents: I Don’t Give a Fuck. On the eve of its release, the Atlanta rapper-actor-businessman shared some insight into the star-studded set, which features Chris Brown, Young Jeezy, Mac Miller, Pusha T, French Montana, and more.
He explained why he decided to release a free mixtape at this point in his career. “Basically, I put this mixtape out as an appreciation for all the fans that’s been supporting me for over a decade,” Luda told Rap-Up TV.
Chris Brown is featured on two tracks including Da Internz-produced “Dancing Dirty.” “I feel like it’s a club record, I feel like it’s something women can appreciate,” he said. “I vibe in the studio so much with Chris Brown. We play each other so many records and there’s no method to the madness.”
He has also recorded a song called “Fantasy” for Breezy’s upcoming album X, but he’s unsure if it will make the cut.
Brown also makes an appearance on “Mad Fo” featuring Meek Mill, Swizz Beatz, and Pusha T. “That record is talking back to all the haters. What the hell are you really mad fo?” explained Luda.
He wanted to work with Mac Miller (“She’s a Trip”) because he respected his independent movement. “I love the fact that he had this underground following,” said Ludacris, who also got his start independently.
His eighth album Ludaversal is due later this year, while Fast & Furious 6 hits theaters Friday. But despite his success in Hollywood, music will always be Luda’s first love. “This mixtape is showing everybody how hungry I still am and that the music is still number one in my life regardless of how many movies I’ve shot.”

Chris Lighty’s Family Launches Petition

”The NYPD Did Not Do A Thorough Investigation”
The family of late music manager Chris Lighty is seeking further investigation into the circumstances surrounding Lighty’s apparent suicide. The family has launched a petition urging that certain forensic tests be conducted that were not taken care of at the time of the famed industry mainstay’s August 2012 death. âThe main problem that we encountered was that the NYPD did not do a thorough investigation into Chrisâ death,â Attorney Scott Leemon said in a statement. âIn fact, what they did do was cursory, at best.â Leemon states that a gunpowder residue test was not conducted at the death scene, nor was a DNA test conducted on the weapon used in the death. âWe have uncovered real information that needs to be followed up on by those in authority,” said Lighty’s mother. The family’s petition is available to sign at iPetition. |

R&B Star Rear-Ended A Woman
Chris Brown and Karrueche Tran appear to be back on. The former-and-possibly-reunited couple were involved in a car accident near Toluca Lake in California on yesterday (May 21st.) Brown apparently rear-ended a woman in a Mercedes as he was driving his Range Rover. There were photographers there who claimed that the exchange was fairly amicable, and damage was minimal. No word yet on if there was anything specifically that caused the accident other than Breezy not paying attention or possibly the woman stopped short. But everyone waits for any salacious details. |
2013 BILLBOARD AWARDS PERFORMANCE: Chris Brown’s “Fine China”
May 20th

Chris Brown returned to the Billboard Awards stage tonight to perform his hit single "Fine China." The heavily Michael Jackson-influenced choreography was on point as usual, but folks are raising their eyebrows at his singing tonight. Check out the performance for yourself inside….
As usual, Chris Brown delivered a hot performance for his track "Fine China". Probably going to be one of the hottest of the night.
And if you feel like you’re watching the "Bad" video mixed with "Thriller," you’re not far off. The creative directors for the performance (and for the video) were Rich & Tone Talauega, who were Michael Jackson’s creative directors/choreographers. And they’re currently the creative directors for the MJ One Cirque du Soleil show in Vegas premiering this month.
So while the dance breaks were totally on point as expected, we gotta ask. Should Chris back off those ciggies and that partying? Because the singing….
*UPDATE* Chris tweeted after his performance, "Lil hoarse for the performance but it happens. Good sh-t otherwise."

Chris Brown Rocks 2013 Billboard Music Awards With A Hint Of Michael Jackson
May 19th
By Rob Markman
Chris Brown has a string of memorable award show performances and on Sunday night (May 19), Breezy added another to his his collection when he took the stage at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas for the 2013 Billboard Music Awards.
With his forthcoming X album on the way, Brown used the opportunity to show off some pretty dope dance moves set to the LP’s first single “Fine China.” With an Asian-tuned backdrop Brown strutted up and down his elaborate stage wearing an all black suit. The Michael Jackson-inspired tune produced some pretty MJ-esque kick-steps and dance moves to match.
Brown did bring his own flavor to the stage however, most notably with his red glowing mic stand which he tossed back and forth while singing, “It’s alright, I’m not dangerous.”
Just like the “Fine China” vid, Brown told a story of forbidden love on stage and towards the end of his performance stopped the music and put on a choreographed kung-fu fight scene with some tough-looking back-up dancers. To close Breezy diddy-bopped to a rocked out guitar solo and disappeared behind a screen door before giving showing off a few more Jackson-inspired moves.
“MJ, I can honestly say he’s probably my greatest influence,” Brown told MTV News back in April. “Michael, he just set the foundation for every other artist to try to be great. … I’m inspired to be as great and just try to be the best Chris Brown I can be in the process.”

Breezy turned the stage into Chinatown, working up a sweat as he performed his first X single “Fine China” with his dancers and MJ’s guitarist Orianthi. He closed by striking a silhouette just like his icon.
“Lil hoarse for the performance but it happens. Good shit otherwise,” tweeted Breezy.

Chris Brown has unveiled a two-minute preview of his upcoming single “They Don’t Know,” which features previously unreleased vocals from the late and great Aaliyah.
