Activist Jada Pinkett Smith and her daughter Willow were spotted on Capitol Hill yesterday where they attended the launch of the Senate Caucus to End Human Trafficking. Find out more about Jada’s "cause" inside….
Yesterday, actress Jada Pinkett Smith appeared on Capitol Hill and spoke at the launch of the Senate Caucus to End Human Trafficking. While speaking with Senators Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) and Rob Portman (R-Ohio), Jada revealed that she’s in town to advocate passage of the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2011 which will provide funding to "…enhance measures to combat trafficking in persons, and for other purposes." And the Hill wasn’t her only stop to advocate for trafficking victims as she added,
“I’m actually going to the White House today to speak to Valerie [Jarrett]. The White House is very passionate about getting involved and figuring out how to tackle this issue.
“As you know, President Obama spoke about human trafficking and the idea of it not being tolerated in this country, and I do plan on sitting down with our president and speaking to him personally about this issue.”
Jada made her speech in a daring silk orange jumpsuit.
She brought along her daughter Willow who actually introduced her to the issue through the viral Kony 2012 video detailing child sex trafficking. After doing some research of her own, Jada decided that this was an issue she wanted to take on.
Jada and her group "Dont’ Sell Bodies" have already had success in California with the passing of Prop 35 which seeks to end human trafficking in the state. Great cause for the Smith ladies!

On Wednesday night (October 10) in NYC, Meek Mill held a listening for his upcoming October 30 debut, Dreams and Nightmares. Housing the event at Jimi Hendrix’s legendary Electric Lady Studio, special guests like Jay-Z, Will Smith, and The-Dream all filled the room for a sneak peak of the forthcoming LP.
Hosted by Hot 97′s Angie Martinez and D’USSE Cognac, Meek Mill was joined by Rick Ross and Wale, and gave a first listen to his highly anticipated release. Aside from Jay, Will Smith, and The Dream; Estelle, Victor Cruz and Desean Jackson all joined in on the fun. However word has it that the Philly rapper happened to be a little tardy to the shindig causing Will and Jay to leave before he even got there.
No worries though as Hov already got a private listen to the LP a few days prior. On Thursday (October 4), Meek tweeted: “Letting #hov & @_youngchris listen 2 #dreamsandnightmares wen hov tell ya sh– hot….it’s hot!”

Were the former lovers out on a date in Brooklyn?

Seems like an eventful week for Chris Brown and Rihanna, who were spotted partying it up together in NYC just a few days ago. They continued their stay on the East Coast with a visit to Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, where they caught Jay-Z’s fifth show to open the venue.
Rih and Chris Brown sat next to each other in the VIP area, and RapRadar’s Elliott Wilson posted a photo, confirming that they arrived and hung together at the show. Rihanna recently admitted to Oprah that she is still very close friends with Brown, and that seemed to be confirmed when they affectionately greeted each other at the 2012 VMAs.
Chris Brown’s girlfriend, Karreuche Tran, who he was spotted with in Atlanta over the weekend, sent a series of ominous tweets that might signal the end of her relationship with the singer. After Brown tweeted, “Both r Free from it all!” Tran followed up with a shout to Nas, writing, “Bye baby.”

Also, R&B singer Mashonda wrote a touching letter to Chris Lighty’s son J (who is close friends with her son Kasseem). Here’s it is in full:
By the time you are old enough to read this letter you might have asked a thousand questions or maybe even figured a few things out on your own. My intentions here are not to write about what happened to your father, but instead to help you to understand what might possibly be happening to you.
It’s important that you know your dad adored you. I can still see him smiling at you as you ran towards him, leaping into his arms and I remember the way your eyes lit up when he entered the room. Baby boy, be brave. And being brave means letting the tears flow and being able to ask for help. There might be an empty space that will take time to fill. Please never be afraid to talk about it; it is important that you do.
Your father has left you a village of strong men and women – and you must know that they will always be there for you and your brother and sisters. On the days when you feel sad and confused, don’t be afraid to draw a picture or listen to your favorite song. Call a friend or one of your beautiful siblings, you will need each other to grow through this. Never hesitate to communicate what you feel. I guess what I’m trying to say J is; express your feelings in a positive way. Never bottle them up.
Grown ups have a way at hiding their pain and not talking about it, not expressing it in a positive way and ultimately it hurts and destroys us, individually and as a community. I want you to know that this can be avoided. There are things that have happened to me as a child and it took me years to realize that my prayers, the grace of God and talking to the right therapist helped me begin to heal.
You are always in my prayers.
Mashonda and Kasseem
