Stemming from the Nike Free originally release in 2004, the overarching concept for the series was to focus on the athlete’s body and movement. “It’s all about the feet – it’s not about the shoes” is the mantra that Nike set forth with their design philosophy. Ten years later, with all of the advancements in technology and product engineering, the 2014 Nike Free Flyknit collection features some of its most significant develops in Nike Free since its launch. The goal is to focus on flexibility and being close to the ground while still maintaining comfort and cushion.

The Nike Free Flyknit 4.0 is more flexible than the Nike Free Flyknit 5.0 and more cushioned than the 3.0, unleashing your natural stride with a lightweight, supportive Flyknit upper and a highly flexible, low-profile outsole. The Flyknit upper is a one-piece seamlessly constructed of polyester yarn. A notable aspect of the shoe’s innovation is the implementation of hexagonal flex grooves that are hot-knife cut into the outsole and wrap around the sidewall so your foot moves more naturally in every direction.

The Flyknit 4.0 arrives in three different colorways: Volt/Black/White, White/Black/Volt, and White/Military Blue. Flip through the slideshow above to check out the different colorways to see which suits you best.
