WEEN, founded in 2007, supports the positive portrayal of women in entertainment.  The awards gala is a fundraising event for some of the programs that WEEN provides for young women ages 14-28. The YBF was on the scene for the event which turned out to be a fab night for uplifting women.

This star-studded evening was full of beautiful women; proud of their roles in society and the impact they have had in entertainment. Among some of the guests in attendance was actress, Kim Coles who recently hosted the NAACP Awards and is taping another season of BET’s “My Black is Beautiful.” Kim is currently speaking around the country as a motivational speaker and she seemed extremely excited to be in the presence of so many reputable women, making a difference in the lives of today’s youth. Also in attendance were some of the scholarship recipients.

Lyfe Jennings was one of the performers at the WEEN gala.

Letoya Luckett showed up in a dress that was semi-formal on one side and "harajuku girl" on the other.  She should let Nicki Minaj borrow that one.

Nia Long and a guest on the red carpet.

Nia Long looked cute in a simple red dress.

Lyfe Jennings and Bryan-Michael Cox posed on the carpet together.

I wonder if Letoya Luckett and Bryan-Michael Cox are working on music together?

Here’s a solo shot of Bryan.

Kim Coles always seems so bubbly and happy to me.

Julissa Bermudez is working the legs in her outfit.

Kandi Burruss’s tried a new hairstyle and it worked.

I like this dress Valeisha Butterfield stepped out in.

Even Mashonda stepped out for the gala.

Radio personalities Angie Martinez and Miss Info posed together.

Angie Martinez brought her mother along as her date.

Mary J. Blige’s new artist Shontelle wore a really nice dress.

Kristi Henderson and DJ Kiss met up on the red carpet.

Radio personality Egypt was there as well.

Estelle looked very nice.

CNN’s Don Lemon looked dashing.

Here’s Dr. Benjamin Chavis with Shanti Das and Kristi Henderson.

Here’s a nice photo of Valeisha Butterfield, CNN’s Don Lemon, Gayle King and her daughter Kirby.

Hey Kim Coles!

Hey Kandi!

Julissa, Egypt and Dr. Catrise Austin took a cute photo.

I like Mashonda’s necklace.

Nia seemed to have a good time.

I like Estelle’s haircut.

Alright Egypt!  Looking like she should be a part of the Emerald City sequence in The Wiz.  I thought it over and the color is blue.

And CNN’s Soledad O’Brien took a nice pic with Egypt.
