Tia Mowry’s announced departure from “The Game” came as a shock to fans of BET’s most popular scripted show. There is rampant speculation as to whether or not Mowry and co-star Pooch Hall quit or were fired, and Mowry briefly addressed the situation during an interview with Sway In the Morning. “When Pooch feels comfortable enough to talk about it, Iâm sure he will but I can just talk about myself,” Tia said. “Right now I can tell you it was definitely a mutual decision.” “You know what, itâs all good. It really is,” Mowry continued. “Iâve been on the show 5 years. I had a great time on the show. Iâm very happy with what I did. I love Melanie so much that sometimes I forgot to shut her off. Gucci Mane—I’m Up Mixtape Cover [PHOTO]

As the release date of his I’m Up mixtape approaches, Gucci Mane has released the project’s cover artwork. Last month, the rapper dropped the track “Cyeah Cyeah Cyeah Cyeah,” featuring Chris Brown, and after a string of legal problems, the trap star is clearly ready to get back to work.
I’m Up is due out May 28.

Timbaland, Mary J. Blige React To Singer’s Death
Celebrated “Queen of Disco” Donna Summer has passed at the age of 63 after a battle with cancer. The legendary singer had kept her illness relatively quiet and the news of her passing came as a shock to the entertainment community. Summer was one of the most significant voices of her era and one of the few disco stars who’s fame and acclaim transcended the genre. Summer’s hits ranged from the dancefloor classics “The Last Dance” and “Hot Stuff,” to sultry bedroom music like “Love To Love You, Baby” and Top 40 pop like “She Works Hard For the Money.” Her work has been sampled and covered by numerous artists across numerous genres. On Twitter, musicians reacted to the news of the diva’s passing. “This cant be tru. i cant believe this RIP Donna Summer. at a lost 4words,” tweeted superproducer Timbaland.
“I’m getting tired of these 3 keys…RIP this time to Donna summer an amazing trailblazer!” Q-Tip tweeted, referencing the rash of legendary musicians that have passed recently. Quincy Jones produced some of the singer’s best work, and shared his condolences on her passing. â”Rest in Peace dear Donna Summer. Your voice was the heartbeat and soundtrack of a decade.” |
Waka Flocka Flame Lands On The Cover Of XXL’s June 2012 Issue

XXL is starting off this summer by going “Hard in The Paint,” choosing Brick Squad’s frontman Waka Flocka Flame to cover their June 2012 issue. In the article Waka discusses his speedy rise to stardom, his upcoming album Triple F Life: Friends, Fans & Family, the rumored controversy with Gucci Mane, and the recent murder of friend Slim Dunkin, among many other things.
During the interview the ATL MC gave insight on what his new “celeb” life has been like, telling the mag exactly how he views himself after all of the new found success. “I don’t feel like a celebrity, or this quote-unquote star everybody talk about. I guess Waka Flocka like a job, honestly. I’m at my job right now, so I gotta do it to my fullest.”
He then continued, reflecting on his Brick Squad team and what fans can expect from them in the near future. “I got a whole label, man. We fire. We the new Wu-Tang, Roc-A-Fella. We what these labels are trying to create right now. We the new Cash Money. Squad! Flockaveli was the return of gangsta. I brought gangsta back, man.”
Waka was also recently photographed by fashion photographer Terry Richardson for a feature in VMAN magazine’s 2012 summer issue. During the interview the rapper spoke about music, his mom, and what he hopes to achieve outside of hip-hop.
The June 2012 issue of XXL hits stands on May 29.
