Fashion Designer Tory Burch Loves Tupac Shakur!
Apr 20th
There is folks in plain tweet, fashion designer Tory Burch who is mostly known for her preppy style and iconic flats that basically everyone was wearing 2 years or so ago, listens to Tupac! An she doesn’t just like him she couldn’t love his music more. How sweet is that? It just goes to show you can’t judge a designer’s personal taste by the look of her collection.
REAL TALK: Toya Carter Talks with The Hip Hop Fashionista
Apr 13th

Antoina “Toya” Carter is a woman of many talents, she is a producer on her own reality show “Toya Carter: A Family Affair”, is the buyer at her own boutique in New Orleans, founder of a non profit organization that she hopes to take nationwide and the author of a new book called “Priceless Inspirations” aimed towards teenage girls in need of guidance. While many have tried to stereotype her as another one of Lil Wayne’s ex’s, she is determined to show the world that she is much more than a rappers former wife. Yesterday afternoon I spoke with Toya about everything from her new boutique, personal style, her efforts to help young women and her future in reality television. You can get to know an love Toya Carter as much as I do by reading the interview below
__________
HipHopFashionista: Hi Toya! Thanks for taking time out of your day to speak with Hiphopcube.com! I am the style editor for the site so lets start with some fashion questions. How would you describe your personal style?
Toya Carter: I would say my style is edgy. I’m a nice top and jeans kind of girl, nice fitted dresses and sandals.
HHF: I heard you just opened your own boutique, what is it called and where is it?
TC: My boutique is called Garb, it is located in New Orleans, Louisiana. I am the buyer for Garb and I also have a special section in store called “Toya’s Closet” that is stocked with designer clothing, bags and shoes that I have worn before. Garb is very Chic!
HHF: That is awesome! I read that in your new book priceless inspirations you are giving advice to teenage girls, is there one peice of advice that you think all young women should know?
TC: I would tell them to work extremely hard toward their goals and never let anyone tell them what they can’t or steal their joy. Know your weaknesses as well as their strengths.
HHF: Can you tell me a little more about your non profit organization?
TC: My non-profit is called “Visual Beauty” We help young women find their own inner beauty and self worth. We recently helped our girls with prom. I took care of everything from hair and make up to transportation for them so that they could enjoy themselves.
HHF: That is so great! Do you work mostly with girls in New Orleans or are you nationwide?
TC: Right now we work in the New Orleans area and Atlanta but would love to go nationwide. I have some events coming up this summer that will happen in the New Orleans Area but we are hoping to take them from city to city.
HHF: That is really exciting! Don’t forget to keep ups posted on HipHopcube.com so that we can support you in all that you do in the future.
TC: Of course!
HHF: You have so much on your plate right now with a new store an community involvement and your new reality show “Toya Carter: A Family Affair” which airs tonight on BET. Can we expect to see more reality tv from you in the future?
TC: I don’t know hopefully I can get behind the scenes more. I produce on my current show but would like to produce more shows in the future that I am not on.
HHF: Sounds like a plan to me. Here at Hiphopcube.com we have a signature question we ask in every interview and that is: Alive or dead who are your top 3 favorite rappers of all time?
TC: I would say Tupac, Lil Wayne and *long pause* Jay-z.

Nicki Minaj Performs at NYC Hammerstein Ballroom in The Blonds
Dec 7th
There is no denying that Nicki Minaj is on a muthafuckin roll right now! Since she dropped her album she has really been turning up the heat with her fashion sense. This half nude tuxedo from designers “The Blonds” is bold and maybe even a little crazy… Okay okay its all the way crazy but what else would you expect from Nicki Minaj? There are many videos from this performance on youtube but I chose “Did it on ‘em” for this post because that is my anthem for the final descent into 2011. If you didn’t catch the meaning from my airline slang, I meant the entire month of December. I hope when fashion week rolls around again in February that Nicki Minaj is sitting pretty in the front row at The Blonds’ 2011 Fall show. I would just die for that! Because obvs I’ll be there too
What do you think of Nicki’s look? Did The Blonds give you life? Let me know in the comments!
Rnb Halloween – Keri Hilson
Nov 1st
You gotta be f*cking kidding me. Keri Hilson you really wanted the whole world to call you a bird? As if they don’t say that enough already? This is the best idea you could come up with?! And you didn’t even rent the deluxe Big Bird costume?? Damnit man. For a song writer Keri is comming off as very uninspired. I’ma need her to have more creativity next year. I give this costume an F. What grade do you give this costume?
RnB Halloween – John Legend
Nov 1st
John Legend as a Marc Anthony and his girlfriend is Cleopatra .hmmmmmm well I’ve never really though of him as the strong leader type but hey it’s halloween we can all pretend for now. I love these costumes! Who ever made them should be proud and John Legend and whatshername should try a lil harder next year with a more original idea. I give this costume a B+. What grade do you give this costume?
Hip Hop Halloween – Trina
Nov 1st
Trina…Trina…Trina….What exactly is this costume supposed to be and who did she pay to bedazzle a Jason mask? I love the baddest bitch on a regular day but it looks like she forgot all of her creativity on Halloween. I give this costume a F. You need to try a lil harder Trina! What do you guys think? What grade do you give this costume?
