Malia Obama — VIP At Rihanna’s D.C. Concert
Apr 30th

And this is how the First Daughters ball out. Malia Obama rolled to Rihanna‘s Diamonds World Tour when it stopped in Washington D.C. tonight (Monday). Check out how she partied it up in VIP on a school night….
The 14-year-old daughter of President Obama–who turns 15 July 4th–lived out most teenaged girls’ dream Monday. Malia took some time away from her private school studies and made her way to the Verizon Center to watch Rihanna "pour it up" on stage.
We’re told the eldest Obama girl spent the whole concert dancing and having the time of her life with her friends in their own little world above the concert goers. Hey, we all have a lil ratchet in us.
The gorge teen, dressed in cutoff shorts, a white tee and a plaid button down, may have been singing and dancing along to every song, but don’t expect for her to copy Rih Rih’s serious tattoo behavior anytime soon.
Papa Obama said in a recent interview with NBC that he and First Lady Michelle have a plan to prevent their girls from getting inked:
“Michelle and I have used the strategy when it comes to things like tattoos – what we’ve said to the girls is, ‘If you guys ever decide you’re going to get a tattoo, then mommy and me will get the same exact tattoo in the same place. And we’ll go on YouTube and show it off as a family tattoo. And our thinking is that might dissuade them from thinking that somehow that’s a good way to rebel.”
Ha. Gotta love it….

Despite his ongoing "feud" with Drake, Chris Brown didn’t seem "insecure" at a party he hosted at NY hotspot Stage 48 earlier this month. The DJ played Drake’s "Started From The Bottom" and once the beat dropped, Chris partied along to the song…and liked it. Maybe they’ll put their differences aside and work together one day. COMING OUT: NBA CENTER Jason Collins PENS Open Letter On Becoming “The First Openly Gay Professional American Athlete”
Apr 29th

On the cover of the latest issue of Sports Illustrated, debuting May 6, NBA Center Jason Collins pens an emotional open letter where he announces himself to the world as "…the first openly gay athlete." Read the letter inside…
The first few months of 2013 have definitely been interesting as far as sexuality and disclosure are concerned, as we’ve watched several high profile situations play out on social media…starring African American men. While we watched Magic Johnson’s son EJ openly embrace being "outed" by the media, we’ve also seen the flipside as NFL free agent Kerry Rhodes refuted his "outing" despite a growing amount of "evidence" to suggest the contrary. And we’ve also seen Sen. Kelvin Atkinson of Nevada come "out" during "gay marriage" talks on the floor of the state senate. Now…enter Washington Wizards baller James Collins.
Everyone was tipped of during the midst of the EJ vs. Kerry "outings" that there would be at least four professional athletes coming out over the next few months and surprise surprise…..it’s a "brother" leading the way.
It’s only fitting that at the opening of his emotional letter to SI, James, who’s now a free agent in the NBA, addresses himself first as an athlete, then by his race, and lastly…by his sexual preference. And here in America…you already know which category will be his "lead" for the rest of his life….and he’s fine with that.
In his letter, readers unfamiliar with James will learn a lot about his life, including that he has a twin brother Jarron (who also played in the NBA) and random fact– actor Jason Segal was his backup during their high school days at Harvard-Westlake in Cali
But what’s most interesting is how the Boston Marathon bombing played a role in his decision to live his truth.
He wrote in Sports Illustrated:
I’m a 34-year-old NBA center. I’m black. And I’m gay.
I didn’t set out to be the first openly gay athlete playing in a major American team sport. But since I am, I’m happy to start the conversation. I wish I wasn’t the kid in the classroom raising his hand and saying, "I’m different." If I had my way, someone else would have already done this. Nobody has, which is why I’m raising my hand.
My journey of self-discovery and self-acknowledgement began in my hometown of Los Angeles and has taken me through two state high school championships, the NCAA Final Four and the Elite Eight, and nine playoffs in 12 NBA seasons.
I’ve played for six pro teams and have appeared in two NBA Finals. Ever heard of a parlor game called Three Degrees of Jason Collins? If you’re in the league, and I haven’t been your teammate, I surely have been one of your teammates’ teammates. Or one of your teammates’ teammates’ teammates.
Now I’m a free agent, literally and figuratively. I’ve reached that enviable state in life in which I can do pretty much what I want. And what I want is to continue to play basketball. I still love the game, and I still have something to offer. My coaches and teammates recognize that. At the same time, I want to be genuine and authentic and truthful.
Why am I coming out now? Well, I started thinking about this in 2011 during the NBA player lockout. I’m a creature of routine. When the regular season ends I immediately dedicate myself to getting game ready for the opener of the next campaign in the fall. But the lockout wreaked havoc on my habits and forced me to confront who I really am and what I really want. With the season delayed, I trained and worked out. But I lacked the distraction that basketball had always provided.
The first relative I came out to was my aunt Teri, a superior court judge in San Francisco. Her reaction surprised me. "I’ve known you were gay for years," she said. From that moment on I was comfortable in my own skin. In her presence I ignored my censor button for the first time. She gave me support. The relief I felt was a sweet release. Imagine you’re in the oven, baking. Some of us know and accept our sexuality right away and some need more time to cook. I should know — I baked for 33 years.
When I was younger I dated women. I even got engaged. I thought I had to live a certain way. I thought I needed to marry a woman and raise kids with her. I kept telling myself the sky was red, but I always knew it was blue.
I realized I needed to go public when Joe Kennedy, my old roommate at Stanford and now a Massachusetts congressman, told me he had just marched in Boston’s 2012 Gay Pride Parade. I’m seldom jealous of others, but hearing what Joe had done filled me with envy. I was proud of him for participating but angry that as a closeted gay man I couldn’t even cheer my straight friend on as a spectator. If I’d been questioned, I would have concocted half truths. What a shame to have to lie at a celebration of pride. I want to do the right thing and not hide anymore. I want to march for tolerance, acceptance and understanding. I want to take a stand and say, "Me, too."
The NBA Commissioner David Stern and others have already written statements of support. NBA champ Kobe Bryant tweeted today:
Proud of @jasoncollins34. Don’t suffocate who u r because of the ignorance of others #courage #support #mambaarmystandup #BYOU
Read the full letter here. Congrats to Jason on not being afraid to be HIM.
TOUGH LOSS: Lil Wayne Chills Courtside At Lakers’ Final Playoff Game
Apr 29th

Lil Wayne and the rest of the Laker Nation suffered a tough season end last night. Check out Weezy and his face that says he wan’t feeling anything that went down, inside….
Last night at the Staples Center, the L.A. Lakers took on the San Antonio Spurs in Game 4 of the playoffs. And Kobe’s team ended up getting swept after a tough loss.
Weezy sat courtside as he watched half of the Lakers starting lineup make their season debut….because they had to come up from the D-Leauge as the Lakers are currently plagued with injuries.

Clearly Wayne was feeling any of that ish…because his team barely escaped a shut out. By the way, one of two regular starters, Dwight Howard, got ejected from the game after two technical fouls. So Kobe Bryant, who majorly injured his Achilles Heel, made a surprise appearance on the sidelines to take over the leadership role. Tough game to watch…feel better Weezy!

EVENT FAB: Kerry Washington, John Legend, Gabrielle Douglas & More DINE With The President And First Lady At The White House Correspondents’ Dinner
Apr 28th

Kerry Washington, John Legend, Gabrielle Union were among the stars who laughed and joked with President Obama and Conan O’Brien at this year’s annual White House Correspondents’ Association dinner. See pics and video inside….

Last night was the annual White House Correspondents’ Association dinner where Washington meets Hollywood and A-list movies stars wine and dine with politicians. ABC’s "Scandal" star Kerry Washington was among the super stars who attended.

Kerry wore a stylish Wes Gordon dress, Christian Louboutin shoes, Vhernier jewelry, a Jil Milan bag, and a Movado watch. She tweeted from her fitting earlier in the day, "Just had my fitting with @Stephendatailor – my awesome go to tailor in DC! – getting EXCITED about tonight. #whcd.”

"Scandal" creator Shonda Rhimes, who made TIMES 100 Most Influential list, recently penned an open letter about becoming a mother through adoption.

R&B crooner John Legend, who’s producing a new HBO series "Down Lo", attended the dinner.

He arrived with his gorgeous fiance, "SI" model Chrissy Teigen.

"SNL" alum and "30 Rock" star Tracy Morgan brought out his pregnant fiance Megan Wollover.

Tracy seems really excited about the upcoming birth as he kissed and posed with Megan’s baby bump.

TV personality Gayle King posed with her daughter Kirby Bumpus.

Olympic gold medalist Gabrielle Douglas made a perfect landing.

She posed with "Bridesmaids" star Rebel Wilson.

MSNBC personalities Al Sharpton and Chris Matthews shook hands, made faces and talked politics.

NY Giants baller Victor Cruz posed with fiancé Elaina Watley.

E! News correspondent Alicia Quarles looked amazing.

Funnyman Conan O’Brien had the audience in stitches with jokes like, "I have a question, and I think some of you also have this question. It’s been several months since you were reelected, sir, so I’m curious, why are you still sending everyone five emails a day asking for more money? You won! Do you have a gambling problem we don’t know about?"
"Did you put it all on Gonzaga?"(A reference to the president’s NCAA March Madness college basketball bracket) "You did, didn’t you? He did!"

And President Obama wasn’t a slouch in the jokes department either. He entered the room to DJ Khaled’s "All I Do Is Win."
He also told the audience, "I still make rookie mistakes…Like, I’m out in California, we’re at a fundraiser, we’re having a nice time and I happened to mention that Kamala Harris is the best looking attorney general in the country. As you might imagine, I got in trouble when I got back home. Who knew Eric Holder was so sensitive?"

And while joking that, "I’m not the strapping young Socialist that I used to be", he took a page from out of the FLOTUS playbook and added "bangs" for a fresher look.
He also joked about the Carters’ Cuban Crisis saying, "I’ve got 99 problems and now Jay-Z is one."

Rihanna POSTS Controversial “Drinking” Flicks, Chris Brown’s Dad FEARS Her “Party Attitude”
Apr 28th

As Rihanna shared backstage drinking pics over the weekend, Chris Brown’s dad opened up about her "party attitude" and why he didn’t want them back together. Find out what he said inside….

Rihanna is infamous for posting controversial pics of her bad behavior, and this weekend was no different. As she took a bottle straight to the head on Instagram, she captioned things like "Getting bent back here! #DWT #backstagelife" and "Po it thee phuck up!!! #backstageproblems"

These antics have raise eyebrows among those close to the pop star, including Chris Brown’s dad! In an exclusive interview with the NY Daily News, Clinton Brown revealed that he is NOT "Team Rihanna" saying, "I personally really didn’t want him and Rihanna back together."
So who would Clinton prefer his son date? The answer might shock you. “I personally liked Jordin Sparks. She’s a wholesome young lady, very pretty.”

When asked why he doesn’t think the relationship with Riri (shown above with bestie Melissa Forde) will last, Clinton said,
"You have to have a balance in a relationship. You have to have someone who is spontaneous and whimsical but you also have to have someone who is grounded and logical.”

And for folks wondering why Clinton casts a doubtful eye on Riri, even after his son was convicted of assaulting her in 2009, he says the "assault" wasn’t one-sided.
"One has to assume because they are back together that it wasn’t one-sided. You just have to imagine it was a circumstance in which they both had a disagreement.”
In the future, he added that Rihanna would make a great mom…once she slows down. But he doesn’t see it happening with Chris.
“(Rihanna) would make a good mom. I think she would probably have to change some of her antics — the party attitude would probably have to change. I don’t think they would just whimsically and spontaneously have a child with them being in this mode. That’s why I don’t see it happening — but anything’s possible, man.”
It’s interesting that Clinton was so forthcoming about Rihanna’s "party" lifestyle. We can’t wait for the interview where he addresses his son’s "issues."
