Lil Kim’s Family Focus
May 17th
|
”Every Day I Give Blessings”
Rapper Lil Kim seems to have put music on the back burner, but the veteran rhymer revealed in an interview just why there are other things in her life that are taking her attention away from recording. Kim is committed to helping her family, and she revealed just how deep her love for her relatives goes. “People around me know I do good. Mom lived with me until I went away,” she says. “She’s now in Delaware. My father had ex-wife troubles. Also health issues. He shakes. Spills coffee and food. We have to cook for him, pour his juice. His sickness wasn’t diagnosed, but it’s a small case of Alzheimer’s. I know about ‘Honor Thy Father and Mother.’ My father and I were estranged, but I’ve taken him in. He lives with me. I’m very blessed. I live in New Jersey. Every day I give blessings. I know God’s helping me.” |
Exclusive: French Montana Talks Growing Up In Morocco [VIDEO]
May 17th
Before he was a “coke boy,” French Montana grew up in the North African country of Morocco. Born, Karim Kharbouch, Montana emigrated to the Bronx, with his family in 1996. In the years since, the rapper has been heavy on his grind flooding the streets with material, all of which garnered him a healthy amount of buzz, and a record deal with Bad Boy.
“It’s just a hustle and getting adapted to the lifestyle,” he told Hip-Hop Wired of the differences in African and American cultures. “I feel like the lifestyle is a little different but the hustle is still the same.” Now that he’s officially part of Diddy’s team, Montana is prepping the release of his Excuse My French debut, and dropped the remix to his “Everything’s A Go” single last week.
The summer will find the 27-year-old promoting his music via a spot on Drake’s Club Paradise tour, a solo run overseas, and hitting the stage at Hot 97′s Summer Jam.

Teyana Taylor Talks G.O.O.D. Music
May 17th
|
”The Second Time’s the Charm”
Teyana Taylor announced last week that she’d join Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music imprint. With the deal finalized, the rapper/singer says now she is focused on kick-starting her career. Hopefully, she will make the most of the opportunity–after several false starts in the past. “I had been actually working with the whole G.O.O.D. Music family for quite a while,” she explained. “Around the time we did the ‘Dark Fantasy’ song, I was still in my contract with Star Trak/Interscope Records, and I asked for release because I wanted to find myself as an artist. I had options to go to different labels, but I felt like G.O.O.D. Music was where I wanted to be, where I fit in.” “This is the second go ’round for me, and hopefully, the second time’s the charm,” the 21-year-old continued. “I signed to Star Trak with Pharrell when I was 15, and now I’m at a new chapter in my life where I’m signed to G.O.O.D. Music, and I’m blessed and happy to be part of the team.” “Being signed to G.O.O.D. Music/Def Jam has opened more doors now that I finally have a team behind me that can push me to work harder,” she said. |
