Drake – Nothing Was The Same (Artwork)

After receiving the news of his album getting pushed back a week, Drake now looks to ease some of the pain felt by fans by now unveiling the artwork for Nothing Was The Same. Sharing two different covers, presumably for standard and deluxe editions, Drake is animated as a young child showing off his side profile in one artwork, and portrayed as modern day Drizzy in the other. Shared via his October’s Very Own blog, you can check out both covers up above. Nothing Was The Same is set to hit shelves September 24.

Jay-Z & Ron Howard To Debut Made In America Documentary At Toronto Film Festival

For a second year in a row, Jay Z made Philadelphia the locale for his star-studded musical event, the Made In America Festival, Labor Day weekend (August 31 and September 1).

A week after fans, media, tastemakers, and superstars alike congregate at the Ben Franklin Parkway, director Ron Howard will premiere his documentary on the inaugural 2012 show at the Toronto International Film Festival.

The screening happens Saturday, September 7, at 10 PM EST. The movie will give a well-rounded recap of the festival experience that includes exclusive interviews, performance footage, and more. Steve Stoute, Brian Grazer, and Jay Z co-produced.

Beyoncé, Nine Inch Nails, the Black Hippy clique (Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, and Jay Rock), Phoenix, Queens of the Stone Age, A$AP Rocky, Solange, Public Enemy, Miguel, AlunaGeorge, 2 Chainz, HAIM, Wiz Khalifa, and more will perform this year.

Here’s a brief description from TIFF:

As seen through Howard’s affectionate gaze, Made in America is a love letter not only to Jay Z and his unique project, but also to the city of Philadelphia. Fascinating interludes include one-on-ones with audience members about what the show means to the Philly community — the responses are both positive and negative. Howard explores the birthplace of American Independence and how it relates to this unprecedented event. He even takes some time to follow a local hip-hop group through its attempt to get added to the prestigious bill.

Don’t miss this invigorating documentary — and a conversation with one great artist about witnessing the fulfillment of another’s dream.

Both are virtually the exact same except for the difference in toolings. The pack will unfortunately remain a Shanghainese exclusive that drops this weekend.

EXCLUSIVE: Brandy Shoots Down ‘Performance At Empty Stadium’ Rumor — “It’s All False!”

 photo BrandyCelebsBETAwardsiLtv0C5Ox87l_zps72eafe48.jpg

On Wednesday, reports circulated the net in regards to Brandy giving a concert at a stadium in South Africa that seats 90,000.  And reports falsely spread the rumor that only 40 fans showed up.

We spoke to members of Brandy’s team for an exclusive statement, and we’ve got it inside….

A certain internet site concocted a rumor slamming Brandy Norwood’s capabilities of filling a concert venue.  Once an actual credible site picked up the story, the rumor spread like wildfire.  We decided to ask the source what went down to get to the bottom of it.  And we were told the entire story is false.

With an exclusive statement to TheYBF.com to explain, Brandy’s rep emphasized this will be her first and last time addressing the online reports:

She was booked at the last minute to fly to South Africa to support a "cause"–not a concert. It was a cause that honored "Mr. Nelson Mandela" and there was other performers on the bill besides Brandy. She attended because she wanted to support the foundation and Mr. Mandela…a man who has changed history.

The statement continues,

This whole story has been blown out of proportion and Brandy has sold out shows across the world including South Africa before.

So, there you have it. Next up for B. Rocka — She just hit the studio with producer Mike Will Made It (Ciara, Jay-Z, Kelly Rowland) last week and she’s headlining Musicalize in London on September 24th at Indigo2.

DMX Busted In South Carolina

DMX found himself once again on the wrong side of the law this week in South Carolina. The troubled hip hop star was busted and the police allegedly found drugs in the vehicle in which he was riding. X reportedly blasted the cops for attempting to set him up.

“DMX was driving in the passenger seat when the vehicle he was in was pulled over last night. Although officers pulled them over for a minor traffic violation, DMX was asked to step outside so they can search the vehicle,” X’s publicist Domenick Nati told SOHH via statement. “Officers then claimed that they found bags of marijuana in the floorboard and arrested X. No drugs were found on DMX or the other passengers and the alleged bags of marijuana were never shown to DMX or the other passengers. DMX was released this morning at approximately 11am EST and is back at his home in South Carolina.”

Dickies have been a long favorite for workers, musicians, and skateboarders, for their durable design and affordability. This is the fourth time JAM HOME MADE, jewelry brand based in Japan, embarked on a joint venture with Dickies. For this project, the work pants are transformed into almost formal trousers, complete with taping on each side. Pleats are sewn into the front and rear, accompanied by metal studs on each side. Finishing the pants is an original removable key chain hook that slides into the bottom of the belt loop on the front. These items are currently in stock at JAM HOME MADE stockists and their online shop.

Kreayshawn Talks Pregnancy

”It Was Really Easy To Quit Smoking Weed”

Kreayshawn Talks Pregnancy

Hip-hop one-hit wonder Kreayshawn is apparently focused on impending motherhood. The spunky girl from Oakland revealed months ago that she was expecting her first child, and in a recent interview, she talked about how much her priorities have changed since she’s been pregnant. Most significantly, she’s happy that she quit smoking.

“It wasn’t really hard to quit,” she says. “I found out really early then I was like ‘Oh my god, this is it, this is the last time I’m ever smoking,’ and I haven’t smoked since… but I quit smoking cigarettes last year. That’s hard cause you’re actually really addicted to it., but weed is different ’cause you’re not physically addicted to it. So it was really easy to quit smoking weed. But you can’t smoke weed while breastfeeding either, so that’s a whole six months of not smoking weed either. I just tweeted a second ago, “What is a blunt? I don’t even know what a blunt is anymore.” I haven’t even seen one in so long… now they got all these hookah pens, vape pens… those weren’t even out when I was smoking. All this shit that’s come out while I’ve been pregnant… what is this technological stuff? Everything’s advancing.”

Drake – Hold On We’re Going Home (Bebe Rexha Cover)

New York-based Bebe Rexha has brought a softer feminine touch to Drake’s “Hold On We’re Going Home.” In Rexha’s cover the song is reworked from a girl’s point of view and steers away from its hip-hop origin, moving instead towards an acoustic ballad route. The cover, which cuts at a minute and a half, is a complete rework of the tune that still manages to compliment the track’s original verses and chords, adding a smooth and sultry touch.
